OFBPOAC (You must be 50+ to join)

Stan
62
Conklin 7, Cort Curbow 6, Jackson 5 all fretted.

Played guitar and bass in bands from 64 - 80, hiatus until 1990 then played guitar, bass and keyboards. Now play bass and keys for praise and worship, also classic rock.
I'll quit when they pry my cold dead fingers from my bass!

phmike (Parrot Head Mike)
54 (in 2011)
Ibanez SR300 P/J 4 string, SX P/J 4 string fretless, two Fender MIM 5 string Jazzes
D'Addario Chromes flats, TI Jazz flats, GHS Pressurewounds
My usual signal chain -
bass > TU-2 tuner > Aguilar Tone Hammer > Crown XLS power amp > 1X15 cabinet (Eminence 3015)
(The Tone Hammer and Crown are recent additions and I luv'm)
Until I got the Tone Hammer I used an ART tube mic preamp/DI and various amps, powered mixers or powered speakers. An EHX WORM (tremolo, vibrato, phaser, "neo-modulated" wah) and a Boss OC-3 octave pedal get thrown in sometimes when I'm goofing around.

I first tried bass 30 or so years ago but only played around with it a couple of times a year until about 10 years ago and have slowly played more each year since then. I've played more in the last 2 years than in the previous 5. I've played a few back yard, deck and pool parties with some friends I've known for 20+ years and have never been paid for any of the gigs other than free food/drinks and tips. I guess you could say I'm a fer'real amateur.

Of all the 76 members we currently have, which one of these apply?

When did you start playing the bass? Not the guitar, but the bass.

4. 30s
5. 40s
6. 50s

For me, it was my 50s. I was 55!
