I love it!

The thing about being a 50+ yr old bass player, is that by now we've gotten really, really good at what we do. Last night at our local dive bar we had the crowd begging for more at 1:00pm and they were mostly young'ns.

I'm 59... ...1st, some pix: Rockin' my Spector

a few of my other basses & assorted equipment, "borrowed" from the Carvin website, I lost the card this was originally on:

I started playing in high school, playing a wide variety of contemporary 60's covers. I played a Hofner Beatle bass, never warmed up to Fenders back in the day.

Fast forward to the late 80's, early 90's. Picked a Ric 4001, dumped the Hofner, replaced by a Gibson T-bird. Discovered Fender "hybrids": P bodies, Jazz necks, PJ pickup configuration. Now own 4 Fenders, all hybrids. Also own 3 Peaveys, 4's & 5's, an Ovation AE, and several others, totalin 14 basses, at present.

Still playing, still rockin', & having the time of my life.

Well, I guess I'll play to get us closer to 50 members. I'm 59. This is a pic I sent to one of my niece's kids for their "Flat Stanley" project. If you look at my fingerboard, you can see Flat Stanley "helping" me out.

so to speak,i'll have to get a pic up,i've been a total turd about utilising a photostorage site(like photobucket)even though i do have some fishing pics on there,our computer with NEW Norton 360 is running slow as heck so my current pastime is deleting photos and figuring out how to transfer to a CD(wife said i had 7000 pics stored?)

ok so i had guitars during the 60's,i tell folks`during high school'to make it easy for them but that's wrong it was grade school and into junior high,Mom paid for lessons even took me to concerts,Dad thought it was stupid kid crap if it wasn't hunting fishing drinking or working,for whatever reason i never got hooked up with enough players to keep going with it,let em lay and it ended up`Dad' gave my guitars to a half bro that came home from `Nam,,,around`72?

and gee i sure wish someone would have handed me a BASS all those years ago because i love em and(sigh) wish i had continued playing all along the way and wish folks would play ANY instrument as the world needs a release/music,,add etc. here please,releasing the evel spirits is phenomenal(dang i forgot how to spell)

anyway,i got going again nearly 2 years ago now and love it,i won't let go,it's my release and my driving force,i intend to buy instruments for my 6 grandkids,be around for them and keep playing,practicing,and enjoying it all(could have done the most important part of this shlog just this last paragraph couldn't i?)

now lets see if i can get a pic up,currently i'm torturing only one MIM fretless Jazz(and she loves me as i do her)=54 going on 24(or is that 14?)

wolfmancharlie here,
Would love to be number 50.I am 53 years old and have been playing since 1973.Played in local bands thru the mid 80's then gave it up for quite a while then started back up about 10 years ago.I love playing bass even more now than before. Just for fun now.I have a 1982 Westone Thunder 1 P-bass,1969 St.George hollow body bass,2008 Epiphone Thunderbird,2010 ESP LTD and a Frankinjazzbird bass.I will try to get some pics up but I am new to this so Please give me a number and pics will follow soon.Thanks

4. Started at age 14, moved from guitar to bass. Spent University years gigging in Uni bands, mostly dives and bars. As I got older and more responsible I gradually gave it up to concentrate on family and career. At age 40, took it up again and it has given me a new lease of life. Gig regularly, in a originals situation, recorded, living the dream. Oh - and I am loving the 4lb heads, and 50lb cabs these days!!!
