Yup, that is exactly what I meant.

This is what happens when you say ignorant and hateful things like feminists are selfish. Take responsibility for your speech. You've upset people. Including me (obviously).

I love the social justice warriors ignoring the actual hispanics coming in here and saying they wouldn't be offended.

"NO don't you GET IT? You should be offended because I say so! You are unable to form views on your own because you are a downtrodden minority who needs saving!"

I'm not even sure to whom your are speaking. You sound very angry for such a young person.

You cannot simply deny the existence of power structures. Humor does not exist in a vacuum. It IS funny to mock Christianity because it has been on the top of the totem pole for the past two thousand years. It can stand to be knocked down a few pegs. Mexicans have been scraping the bottom for the past five hundred years - precisely BECAUSE of that position of power Christianity was enjoying all that time. They've payed their dues. It's not funny to see someone knocked down who's already at the bottom.

If you want to talk about power structures, how about we talk about the vicarious ressentiment of your post? You assign to Mexicans the status of downtrodden victims in order to white-knight on their behalf. I rather doubt most Mexicans feel quite as victimized as you consider them, and would be less than thrilled to have you as their champion.

People seem to think that because they are not offended then nobody should be. That is just ignorant of other's feelings and opinions.

And some people think that because they are offended- or think others might be- that *everyone should* be offended. And that is just ignorant of others' feelings and opinions. Iam offended by nothing. Absolutely. Nothing. If you can tell me why I should be, I'd love to learn. Because the way I see it, being offended by something someone says or does gives that person power over you. One chooses to be offended, just as much as one chooses to offend (i.e., intentionally disparage). Quite frankly, I have neither the time, nor the energy, to be offended by anything.

Oh so indigenous populations benefitted as much from the Columbian exchange as Europeans did?

NAFTA did as much for the Mexican economy as it did for the US?

I'll make sure to let them know when I send in my resignation as their official champion.

Here's how this works:

Band dressed in actual Mariachi outfits, playing Mariachi music, with no fake mustaches and no pinata = respect

Band dressed in ponchos, sombreros, and fake mustaches, with a pinata while playing Mariachi music = cultural ignorance and racism.

Sorry, that's what it is.
This concept has everything to do with cultural knowledge and respect.
Not political correctness.

I'm Scandanavian. When Flavor Flav was wearing a Viking helmet on that MTV show back in the 90s, I didn't have a meltdown. I figured he was digging that aspect of the Scandanavian culture.
When non-Scandanavians wish to dress as Vikings when they go to Minnesota Viking games, that doesn't bother me me, either.
White guys dressing as Mariachis? Afrian Americans dressing as Vikings? Who cares? Get over it.

Since you are cherry-picking your images (caricature), sorry; no it isn't. And if a pinata filled with candy and other treats isn't appropriate at a Halloween party, then when is it appropriate?

For the photos, I chose a mostly white band dressed in Mariachi outfits and white people dressed as "mexicans".
Google "Mexican costume", tell me what you find.

Second, the pinata... no, pinata's are cool, especially at a party.
Pinata plus white people dressed as "mexicans" ...not cool.
