Where are you people finding these vintage Richs? I can't find em' anywhere. I've always wanted one ever since my first warlock, but they are so hard to find.

I am the original owner of the bass. I traded my 1977 Jetglo 4001 in as a down-payment.
The bass is all-original except for the jack plate. I gave up on waiting for replacements of the cheapo plastic plates to come from Bernie. There was no FedEx in them days!
I found a beefy All-parts piece, or something like that. Forget where I got it from.
Other than that, I had to replace the screw that holds the tuning gear in place on the G string.
... Oh! and the pre-amp battery isn't the original one that came with it! *LOL*
It's a beauty that still gets taken on gigs every now and then.
I haven't seen one with quite as much birds-eye and crotch figuring as this one.

What, you're still using the original strings!!!! LOL
THe Jackplates can be obtained from Neal Moser very cheaply

I just talked to Neal last week. He only lives 45 minutes away from me these days.
I probably won't replace the jack plate as I will just break it again.
I did talk with him about getting a new preamp to keep with the bass in case the original gives out. I've already had to reflow a cold solder joint on one of the caps... you just never know.

I have a new Varitone/booster, had it a couple of years now, always handy, and Yep, know all about all those bloody wires, I once had to completely rewire a '79 Bich bass, as everytime you changed batteries, wires would snap

It wouldn't be the first neck I have seen like that.
And if it was scalloped, how would you explain the presence of the dots everywhere else?

It is scalloped, of course. Those pictures you posted are taken from a definitive angle. They also were taken close enough to see where the 12th fret dot markers used to be, so you were right about the scalloping taking them off. The scalloping also accounts for the wrap-around look of the side markers on the 12th fret and higher in the original picture, so you were right about that too.
On a different note -- you are very knowledgeable about BCRs, and seem to be the driving force behind this thread/club right now (respect). How about officially taking it over and start assigning club member numbers?

Ref the Mock, it took until I got the serial # of the Bass untill I could search my files to see If I had any pictures of it, as I have pictures of over 9,000 BCR's with serial #'s, there was no way I was going to look through them all blind LOL

I've been wanting a custom shop bc rich stealth bass ever since I saw Glen Benton of Deicide using one in a very old recording they did for some cable tv show in the early 90s or late 80s. It was a damn sexy bass with the inline headstock curved at the end and with the R on it. omg

Yeah mate, I have over 82,000 pictures of over 9,500 B.C.Riches with serial #'s, so once I had the serial # of this mock, I just went to my import file, opened the Mockingbird file and found it's serial # file

What can anyone tell me about this bass?
Trawled the Net & even this forum but found next to zero info, apart from the article in the guitar mag link above that states these were released in the 80s during a resurgence in interest in Fenders.
Are they any good?
What do I look out for?
Would greatly appreciate feedback/advice from the experts here before I make the 4-hour plus trek to see this guitar. Asking price is circa USD$260.

They were rubbish mate, cheaply made, they also made strats and telecasters the same, from 1996, they weren't in the 1995 catalogue and weren't in the 1998 catalogue (I don't have the '97 catalogue), so a short lived thing

I have an uncle Kahlid (if that's the spelling) in Malaysia, don't think I'm gonna be visiting him anytime soon though LOL
