Here's my baby! It's my first (but definitely not my last :D) Lakland:

It's a Skyline DJ4. Since the pic, a J-Retro has been installed. The red LED's aren't installed any more, I'm going to replace them with Blue ones ;)

I'm thinking of going with a Duck Dunn P for my next one.

Cheers

Sweet!!! I love the LEDS as well!!! Blue would look great with the white bass....did you have to do that yourself or is there a "kit" for doing that?

How do you like the J-retro??? I love mine!!

because I have a hard time sitting still with the gear I have.. a few more questions to fellow laklanders.
Right now I have three basses and one on order (USJO4, Sky DJ4-1 on order, and a custom 'wick). I desperately want a fretless and was thinking of getting a USBG, Pj with a jazz taper.. but that's lots of money. So I was thinking, why don't I get my JO defretted. It is my main bass, and I just love the neck. The only thing that keeps me from doing this is the amazing fret job done on the bass.
If I did this, I'd have to get the rosewood treated and all (epoxy?).. I just wanted to know people's opinions on this.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. You could screw up your main bass and trash any resale value. Find a fretless to play.

Good point.. and as I just quit my band I need to get rid of stuff anyway. I'll just sell some of my stuff off and use some of the money to get a fretless.
To my next point: How are the fretless sky JO4s? I saw one on bass central with an ebony board (which I didn't know they did on skylines) and it intrigues me. I'm also just jonseing for a new lakland.

How about buying just a fretless neck? :bassist:

Have Lakland replace the neck with one of their Ebony necks.....they are great and you will keep your neck intact for later (if you want to switch it or sell it).....I believe Lakland is reasonable on the cost of a neck swap....I know several others have had a swap done and maybe they can comment on the cost etc.....also, that way, you KNOW the neck will fit and will sound great!!!

Just MHO......

I concur. I'm thinking a JO5 or DJ5. Want to try a passive bass again (with a vintage feel).

Hurray!!!!:D Both are GREAT in their own right!!!

I am sort of getting the "vintage passive bug" myself....my "next bass" will be a passive DJ - not sure if Skywalker and I are the "only" people to be on the wating list for the DJ4 "Adam Clayton non-signature" bass, but.....

as an update, the reason for the delay (original dist = June and now = August) is because the Koreans were "thrown" by Dan's request to not have the binding put on with the blocks and they had to re-order.....
