Hey -- where's MY number???

Just caught a concert on BET Jazz Network, I keep checking but they have not shown any concerts lately or keep repeating the same ones over again. Tonite was The Isley Bros concert, sure they're a little weather beaten but they still have soul. Dont know who he was but the bassist played a natural bodied/maple board Joe Osborn 5, looked sharp. I have a -01,-02D and cant decide whether a JO-5 or DJ-5 will serve me best, cant find em locally to try out. I have a modified '07 MIM Jazz 5 coming Friday from a KSD fretless 5 trade I made. I'll see if that jazz will hold me for awhile, hope so but doubt it, really like those Lakland Skylines. Can I snag a #?

Quite a bit yes.
I placed my Jazz PG on my DD last night, just to see what black would look like and im sold. Black it is but i will look to see if i can get a black sparkle.

My Second DD is now on its way, i should have it by Friday or Monday at the latests. As i still have the first one ill be able to compare them both. The new one has come from Lakland so im hoping it will be fine and unused.
Then ill get the PG ordered.

That's the biggest collection of Läklands I've ever seen. Impressive! Very nice grain on that JO.

as for the JO5 vs. DJ5 - what are you going for? JO is more "60s old school" and DJ is more 70s......either one would be a great addition!

PS - hope you can try them out....if not, I ordered my DJ4 without trying it and had no issues or concerns what so ever!!!

Well.. if they have some already with binding, I could take that off of their hands. Can't just have basses sitting around.
I may take your advice about ordering a fretless neck from Lakland. I'm going to email them and ask about it. It would be cool if I could get a fretless neck for my DJ4. I wonder if they'll fit a USDJ fretless neck to my sky.. I guess that I'll find out. I just don't want to change the neck on my JO. It's sooooo nice. I would defret it, but never swap it.

I am sort of getting the "vintage passive bug" myself....my "next bass" will be a passive DJ - not sure if Skywalker and I are the "only" people to be on the wating list for the DJ4 "Adam Clayton non-signature" bass, but.....

as an update, the reason for the delay (original dist = June and now = August) is because the Koreans were "thrown" by Dan's request to not have the binding put on with the blocks and they had to re-order.....

Evan:

No bound ones - the order got "cancelled" and they had to re-order...if there were bound ones, I would be allover it as well!

As for a US neck - that will not happen...I do not thing US necks fit Skylines.....not sure if there is a fretless neck for the DJ....teh neck profile on the JO is just different enought that the necks are not interchangeable....e-mail Brian Gingrich and let us all know what he says!!!

PS - I would buy a new neck before defretting.....defretting is too permanent....

brian told me that the fretless dj neck would be expensive enough (i won't post the figure), but also the neck pockets aren't the same. I could get it done for my USJO, but I love the neck on that so much and I don't think I'd want to switch it out.
I'll just have to save enough money for a US fretless, or get my maple dj defretted.. which I probably wouldn't do since rounds would kill the maple.
