Official 2011-2012 NHL Regular Season Thread; Second Period

Note my edit: Smack talking is one thing,...just hard to convey in the written text,...and I've honestly been absent from TB for a while that we haven't really had the opportunity to get to internet know one another. :D

Well.......lol

I'm a leo. I like long walks on the beach. LOl

Just kidding. Here's a little of my history. My dad is a die hard that remembers the spectrum being built and the parades after the two cups. He has a press box seat from the spectrum when they were sold. I grew up watching videos of clarke and parent and mostly the 80's lake placid. I was the color commentator for Navy hockey for three years when I worked at the Naval Academy(miss it). Not many listened but it was fun. I have way to much flyers stuff and when Leclair went to pittsburgh I stitch ripped all his names off my jerseys(5 of them) I now will only buy jersey of people who brought us cups. I still play in a 30 and up league and my dad plays defense for a 50 and up league. I am recently thinking about getting a body blank of a MM and building my own flyers bass. I want to brand the flying p into in and then do a transparent orange over it. And my first born will be named robert (Iwill call him bobby even if the mom dosen't like it.)

So that's me, I now live in Ohio and tape every game, buy the center ice and nhl network every year. I am new to this site so no one really knows me yet besides one guy I bought a amp off of. :p Nice to meet all you guys.

I'm gonna be late for work.

My family is from the Philly area. No one really follows sports in my family but I did get a chance to go to a few Norfolk Admirals games when they were in the ECHL. I think we got free tix through the Navy (dad is retired Naval Warrant Officer). I remember watching the Rags win the SC and it was then that I decided I was a hockey fan and chose the Flyers having not known anything about them. I recall the late era of the Line of Doom days and have been casually following them since 95-96.

Only recently have I been in a position to follow the team regularly (post lockout and that throw away year in reality). Used to do the Center Ice/GCL thing but that's not feasible for me for this season thanks to my work schedule and living on the west coast.

So I pirate games through a private tracker; as much as it pains me to say. I'd rather support the league and would love to give them my money,...but it's not easy for me to do that and I don't have cable to DVR games from Center Ice (the only real reason for me to have cable is to watch hockey and I don't consider that cost effective).

Most the guys here have heard that story,...so now the more you know.

I have an older Richards Jersey (one of the black ones gotten while he was still and Alternate Captain) and still have but don't really wear it. Got a bunch of other Flyers schwag including this awesome hockey stick putter a friend got for me.

Cheers and nice to meet you.

:D

Heres a pic I had in my phone if some navy stuff that has my jersey in it. I have alot of jerseys, wierd ones and ones I just think are cool. My favorite is my Chiefs Hansons jersey and my Clarke. People always love the hanson one.

Hey, everyone. Any other Blues fans out there?

Welcome to the thread, hopefully you stick around.

I'm not so much a Blues fan, but I do like watching them play. Sometimes I have nightmares of Halak as a Canadien knocking the Pens out of the playoffs a couple years ago.

Ugh, really?

I think part of it too is the team broadcasts, so it isn't all the fault of CI. Someone will need to chime in from DET or PHI and let us know if their local broadcast is in HD.

We should've won that game. It was wacky, and IMO, poorly officiated. No referee should ever jump into a fight, elbow a player, then eject that player. Stupid. At least it was poorly officiated both ways.

Honrqvist may have gotten wacky goal of the year. Quick pokechecked the puck off Hornqvist's skate and into his own net. Golden.

The Bruin fans have been the obnoxious ones here so far.

It's just the way it is here. We love our Broons (most of the time) and hate everybody else (except for the Canadiens, whom we loath). It's that way in every sport, though.

I remember in 2004 when the Sox beat the Cardinals in the WS in St. Louis, and many of the St. Louis fans were congratulating our fans there for having won it after so long. If the reverse had happened, and St. Louis had won it in Boston after so many years, we'd have said F-you and threw a beer at them (albeit in a plastic cup).

I'm not justifying it, just sayin'.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. Another big win for the Blues tonight. Sorry I can't comment on some of the specific hits you've been discussing, but it does seem that penalties have been down over the last month or so. Hopefully the refs are letting them play more in anticipation of the playoffs.

What a game in Philly. The Giroux goal was sweet. Bummer deal about Jagr.

I watched most of the Boston game. Thomas and the defense are about due for an upswing. Funny watching Marchand get body slammed though. I liked Chara doing his best Malkin impersonation.
