Official 2015 NHL Playoffs Thread

Bring it on, wenches...

Well, I said I'd hold my tongue until it was over...and it's over. I would have never guessed a sweep. The worst part is now I need to cheer for Chicago as I feel they will eventually hoist the cup.

I was sorry to see the Wild get swept for much the same reasons I was sorry to see the Jets go in the same ignominious fashion. Both cities have great support for hockey, and both lost their franchises and have now got them back. The fan base in both cities are knowledgeable and loyal, and deserve better than this.

I don't think the Wild were ever in this series. They had to work so hard to even get in the playoffs, then they had to play a very physical series against #1 St. Louis. Chicago is just in their heads and they need to figure it out somehow.

I also think they should have worn their Red home sweaters. :smug:

I am 100% correct in my NHL bracket pics so far though. Didn't always get the number of games for the first round, but picked all the teams. Yes, I did pick Chicago. I am currently sitting at 111 points and ranked 6326.

If you're curious my 2nd round looks like this:
Chicago
Anaheim
Montreal
Washington

3rd round:
Chicago
Washington

Final:
Chicago

The Habs sure turned it on tonight--three more may be a stretch, but I know some Habs fans who are hoping.

The Habs are not out of it, coming back from 3-0 doesn't happen often, but it happens - the B's were on the bad end of that the year before winning the Cup. With two evenly matched teams, anything can happen and likely will.

Players always say the closeout games is the toughest, that has to be especially true against hockey's L'empire du mal.

OK...a moment to breathe...
If I take one single moment away from these Stanley Cup Playoffs, it will be Joel Ward's goal with ONE...freakin' ONE... second left in game 1! That was a helluva a moment!
More than anything, I would love to sit down with him and explain how magical I believe his #42 is. He is a black guy...born in Canada...yet...he understands the importance of the number 42, and he brings that with him to the rink every night! I grew up in an era when black guys simply didn't play hockey...but, of course, my grand father grew up in an era when black guys didn't play baseball...OH, WAIT, they did! just not on TV...which was run by white guys!
I reserve my Jackie Robinson, Brooklyn Dodgers' jersey for special occasions. Joel Ward wears that incredibly important number on his back every night. Because of that, I imagine that every single night is that magical for him. He wasn't assigned #42...he chose it... and he understand the importance of it.

Rangers over Caps 2-1 in OT. at home.

Caps broke the ice in the middle of the third while the Rangers tied it up with about 2 minutes to go to send it into OT.

One hell of a game. Seriously, one of the most enjoyable games I've watched in years. I do love those goalie duels when both netminders are taking turns doing magic tricks. Holtby is currently sitting on a 96% save pct.

These Rangers Caps games are some of the toughest games to deal with. Rangers pretty much dominate possession in the offensive zone by at least 75% for the first half of the game. Holtby keeps the Caps in it, then the Washington offense picks up. It's horrible.

One thing is for sure...Rangers can't pay Zuccarello enough. He is so missed right now. Having another completely dangerous line really makes a difference for their rotation. One crucial piece missing and the rest is just off balance.
