Empty net goals are earned the hard way. You are on the ice working your tail off at the end of 60 minutes of grueling, physical hockey, defending your goal from a desperate opponent in the position of having a virtual power play.
Getting a hat trick with the addition of an empty net goal is no less deserved than when scored with three "natural" goals.
Ice hockey in June is bad enough, but ice hockey in June in Tampa Bay ain't right.

The season seems reeeeeally long when you don't have a dog in the hunt - didn't seem so bad this year. Sorry the NYR didn't make it. It's changed who I want to see in the final now that one of the original 6 is out - I thing the Lightning and Ducks might be a good one.
I don't doubt that it will be good hockey, but the heart of it has been cut out...for me. That Johnson kid from TB is a really talented player!
I'm still (sorta) looking forward to Ben Bishop stick handling it into his own net! Not fair to any of the 3 left standing to be grumpy about it, and I'll always love seeing an Original Six team win it all...so if it can't be my beloved Rangers...cuz I shoulda worn the RED jersey, dammit!!! 'Go 'Hawks!'

Im rooting for whom ever can beat Anaheim. Not liking them much right now

BlackHawks are totally dominating this game. At the end of period 2, Hawks are up 4 -1.
It can't be dismissed that the Ducks will not rally from behind and somehow win this game against the one team that always seems to pull miracles out of the air when they are the most desperate.
But I won't bet on it going into the next round.

I didn't know that either. The Rangers were pretty close-mouthed about it. I'm no Rangers fan, but that really sucks. Zuccarello is a fun player to watch.
I don't know how anybody has the guts to clog up the area in front of the goalie. Those pucks are not soft, and when you figure some of those shots are coming in around 100 mph (Chara, etc.), I'd be diving for cover. What a great game though. I'll never understand why so many people don't like it...

Yeah, I liked Phil when he was a Bruin. Unless, of course, he was playing my Flyers.

Tampa leads the series 2-1 and they're "on serve" with game 4 being played in Chicago tommorrow night.

Well, it could still go 7--and that might keep it more interesting for those of us without a clear cut preference who wins.
Okay, both conference finals were great, and this final is awesome. But how come they just seem so much faster than a make believe game? Oh....wait a minute....Babcock will fix that, right?
