Official 2015 NHL Playoffs Thread

Yeah, I don't know how the Hawks won that game. They did play badly and only Crawford's frantic efforts kept the Lightning from finding the back of the net more than once.

The last 90 seconds was a total barrage of firepower at the Hawk's goal. They actually came within a literal inch of tying the game with 1 second left.

My stomach can't take much more of this. :D

Since I'm sure that it's not-at-all cool to quote yourself, I would direct your attention to post #386, sentence #2.
I'm not any smarter than anyone else in the room...but I do recognize an accident waiting to happen...

Congrats to the Hawks and also to Tampa....it was a well played series and fun to watch as a fan of hockey.

Being a disappointed Rangers fan, I couldn't bring myself to outright root for Tampa and their ex-Rangers...Cally, Stralman, and Boyle....but I wouldn't have minded if they won.

Nice for Richards to get his 2nd cup after being bought out and discarded by the Rangers last year.

I'm already looking forward to the 2015-2016 campaign!

Wow, Chicago for the third time in six years. Very impressive. The salary cap will probably make them lose some players this offseason, but that doesn't seem to affect them.

Funny story about the Stanley Cup being late to the arena: 2015 Stanley Cup finals -- Delayed Stanley Cup arrives after Chicago Blackhawks clinch championship with Game 6 win

I'm really glad for Kimmo Timonen. He has always been one of my favorite players, and now walks away from the NHL as a champion. Great ending for him.

...just a funny hockey moment. Actually, I thought the officiating for the entire playoff run was very good...'cept for the missed BOARDING call against Stamkos about which I wrote so eloquently 10 daze ago... lol

I agree Mike. His 7 years with the Flyers were good ones. Well, for me as a fan at any rate :)

For a bit there, I couldn't stand the guy as a Flyer. I just couldn't like him as a Pens fan. I've cooled off over the years and have come to appreciate a good hockey player for what he is, no matter what jersey he has on. I was hoping the Pens would find a way to get him as his Flyers career started circling the drain. He is exactly what all those kids in Pittsburgh need.

Yeah, a lunch pail kinda guy. Any club would like that for sure. Flyers are tough for you to like in general amirite? :D

Yes, although I'm much more mellow these days. I used to be 'that guy' at games sitting by the Flyers bench hollering at the players, maybe even going out to the team bus after the game to yell at them some more as they left the arena. If I saw someone in Flyers garb, which I seldom did in this area, I'd stop and say something to them about how much the Flyers suck.

Now, I enjoy hockey. Juniors up to the NHL. I wouldn't say I like the Flyers, they are still my natural rival due to where I was born and lived, but I can appreciate some of the decent guys on that team. But hey, I still smile and laugh to myself when they lose and make bad player/coaching decisions. I'll never stop doing that. :)

Yeah we transplanted Philly guys are still pretty dyed in the wool regardless of where we call home. It's funny cheering for the teams I do out here. People look at me like I'm mental :D How DARE I not pull for the Ducks/Giants/A's/49ers/Raiders/Dodgers/Lakers/Warriors. What am I, some kind of degenerate?!

Yes.

Yes I am.

Down here in Georgia, it's Bulldog football, and little else. The Falcons are an afterthought, the Hawks haven't been even relevant for the last 30 years; it was nice to see them have a nice season, but I didn't watch a game, and I only know two others who did. I was born in Da Bronx 60 years ago tomorrow. I got over the Yankees in the early 80s, when it became more a tee shirt selling enterprise than a baseball team...thank you Mr. Steinbrener, for freeing me from what they've become! I'm a baseball guy first, and I love an evening at The Ted...hate the fact that they're moving, even though they're moving in my direction. Ted Turner Field is my 2nd favorite park in the majors...PNC Park is my first. So, yeah, I've got a couple of Braves jerseys, and a single bright red Bulldog tee shirt that I got when the BASEBALL team won the CWS, but I still bleed Giant Blue...still bleed Ranger blue (though I shoulda worn the Red Rangers Jersey for game #6...)

I'm a bit of a black sheep :) Didn't pick the Iggles or the Steelers like a good lil Philly boy. I saw Earl Campbell rumblin bumblin stumblin with a torn jersey and a sea of fools laying on the ground behind him. I was an Oilers fan from that moment on.

However;
Flyers
Phillies
76ers

fo lyfe yo!

I was in Yankee Stadium to see Jim Brown and his Browns play the New York Giants back in the mid-60s. He seemed larger than life...and that's the way I've always felt about Earl Campbell. I thought Bo Jackson was a great power/moves runner...sorta like Earl Campbell, but not at THAT level! Long Live The Big Blue!

Braves, Pirates, Saux
Giants
Rangers
Never had the legs, or the wind, to get too involved in basketball...we skated on the ponds playing hockey all winter.
This being Georgia, I did take a swing at NASCAR...had a good group of friends who would gather up and drink beer and watch the race on Sundays. I even had 'my guy' to pull for each week, but then we moved to our current location, and I never made that connection with anyone up here. I tried to watch it by myself a few times, but it wasn't any fun without the posse around me. That was a dozen years ago...haven't watched a race since then.

So is anybody else having a hard time believing Duncan Keith is human? That was a great series, and it really could have gone either way. Lot's of young guns in Tampa, they may be contending for a while. But Chicago just had too many horses, that line up is stacked.
And maybe one day....no, never gonna happen.
