You'd think the NHL would pick the better officials for the playoffs. Our couldn't decide if they wanted to let the boys play or call penalties. Then blew a handful of calls both ways. Then blew a penalty shot call in OT. Way to go guys.
I'm Proud of the game we played for about 70 minutes. Unfortunately for us, the game was 90 minutes long. You can't take a chunk of time off in the playoffs and expect to win. Hopefully the team that showed up last night and out hit/shot/scored the bewildered Chickenhawks shows back up last night.
. A real Albertan boy
Believe me when I tell ya...I'm the least cynical guy you might ever meet, and I've been watching this since John Beliveau was a kids...but the reason they've gone and made is straight-up brackets is betting, not watching. A pity, but (even) I think that.so they're hoping it stimulates interest in actually watching.
I can be a bit cynical at times.
For those of you out there who haven't heard of it (Calgarians had almost forgotten it) this is the Red Mile (well, a small portion of it, anyway):Invalid Link Removed
Kris Russell scored the winner with 0:29 left in the game against the Canucks last night to give the Flames a 1-0 lead in the series. A real Albertan boy from Red Deer. He's entering a bull in the Stampede this year. His name? "The Red Mile."
.......so they loaded up the truckPoor bugger. Having cousins for parents must really suck.
It would make this ridiculously long mean something if they reseeded the brackets. Top team in the round should play the weakest team remaining.
This is all about betting, not natural rivalries.
If, for instance, the Rangers play the Isles in the 2nd round...sure, great, lots of interest. But, if you reseeded, you'd have a chance for divisional rivals to go toe to toe in the Conference finals for a chance at the cup.
Now THAT makes for interest and stirs up rivalries.
I did state it was for betting--with a fringe benefit if people watch because they're betting on the games--The NHL doesn't really directly benefit from you betting on their games--but if it raises the interest level and gets people to watch--they're all for it.Believe me when I tell ya...I'm the least cynical guy you might ever meet, and I've been watching this since John Beliveau was a kids...but the reason they've gone and made is straight-up brackets is betting, not watching. Again I go three out of four.
I thought Winnipeg had that one, but Scorey Perry comes up big when it matters. Impressive.
