Official 2016 NHL playoffs thread

When the Pens and Sharks were both leading their respective series' 2 games to 1, I was hearing the sports announcers all saying the same thing. Both these teams had all the momentum and they were pretty much assured to roll through the next 2 games and meet in the finals.

Are you kidding me? It's only 2 games to 1. Momentum is fickle. And this is playoff hockey.

I've been focused on the East...watched game 1 of the West, and periods 2 & 3 of game 2...tonight; all night.
I'm really disappointed by The Blues...just looks sloppy. Fans have seemed comatose since early on.
I don't think that either of these teams could win a series with the Eastern team that loses that series.

You may be right. I've heard the Blues v. Sharks series play described as "deliberate". I understand this to mean "slow" or even "lethargic".

I can easily see the winner if this series being overmatched in the finals.

Lightning made a good series of it, especially without Bishop & Stamkos. (Stamkos did play tonight, but probably rusty.)

Congrats to the Pens, who I thought played really well in Games 6 and 7. They really looked like the hungry Pens of old.

How about Rust and Murray though? Man, those two are great. I don't even really know how Rust found that tiny opening for his second goal tonight.

Onto the SCF games starting Monday. I may meet up with local @MJ5150 for that game if I can.

A rookie goalie, a rookie winger, and a rookie coach lead the way for the Pens into the SCF.
This years SCF matches up the two teams with the best records in the NHL over the last 10 years.

If it can't be my Rangers... I've been pulling for my nephew's Pens...

I think I've seen enough of both the East and the West to feel confident with the Penguins' chances. (Truth be told, I expect the Pens in 5. That's how unimpressed I was with the Western final series.)

Man! Monday night seems a long way away...

The NBC Sports talking heads were going on and on last night about the offense of the Sharks. How the Sharks are going to outshoot the Pens every night. How Murray is going to be tested like never before, and probably crumble resulting in Sullivan having to put in Fleury, then how the Sharks have offensive firepower in all lines so the Pens won't be able to deal with all the shots and speed on the ice.
Mmmhmmm, bring it on.

I was listening to the NHL network (on Sirius) this morning. All three guys (Matthew Barnaby and two others) are expecting an outstanding series. They all expect it to go 7, with neither predicting a winner yet. Two very solid teams.

One comment I thought was interesting: Barnaby said this could be the fastest series (speed-wise, not number of games) he's ever seen. Both teams are very fast. I'm looking forward to it...

No idea, never heard of that one before tonight.

Edit:

An offside deliberately caused by a player for the purpose of stopping play.Intentional offsides are rare and usually occur on a delayed offside when a player will shoot the puck in the opposing zone with one of his teammates already in that zone.
