He's going to be revisiting that whiff in his nightmares for the rest of his life.

And the Pens outshot the Sharks by more than 2 to 1 and really did play a good game. Two of the three goals Murray let in were pretty soft and he should have had them. Jones won the game for the Sharks by coming up huuuuuuge when the Pens were pouring it on.

As it stands right now, I would estimate Pittsburgh's chances of hoisting the cup to be better than 80%.

As a Sharks fan.......

Jones was the better goalie, and the reason that the Sharks are still in this. Been this way all series.

Burns and Pavelski have not made contributions like they did in the first three rounds. Marleau looks slow. Hertl is injured. And they keep looking for pretty goals, not trying for dirty goals. I got to think that the Pens will win it.

I agree. Jones was getting clobbered by shots last night. Even Malken's goal was a fluke (not Jones' fault).

Woo! Good game. SJ played well tonight. Jones, once again, kept things interesting, and the Pens missing some rather simple shots / making odd decisions. But hey, they came out on top.

But... ***, Crosby got the Conn Smythe? What an interesting choice.

From out of the playoffs on December 12th to Stanley Cup champs June 12th. Very impressive turnaround.

Yeah, Crosby is great, but that MVP belonged to Murray.
That being said, I did see a level of maturity on the ice from Crosby this postseason that I haven't seen before.

Wow, any Pens fans, enjoy this victory. Well-earned by the team and the fans who stuck by them since winter of 2015. Congrats, guys. Well done.

As for SJ, well, I'll be honest. I f***ing hate San Jose and their fans, but hockey is about class and sportsmanship, so I'll take the high road and congratulate you on the best post-season in franchise history. First SCF and first conference championship.

LA is kicking themselves for letting go of Jones, but they didn't foresee Boston trading him ASAP to San Jose.

Suuuuuupppppppppperrrrr happy for Phil Kessel. Now, I hope his Stanley Cup ring will shut his stupid critics up. And no, he wasn't just a sideline player. He contributed by scoring goals, setting up teammates, and doing what he does best.

Score. Score.

Pittsburgh really let him loose and fuelled his capabilities, unlike Toronto where they seem to marginalize him and overpressure him. Not his fault; Toronto is one of the toughest markets to play for. Fans there expect too much from their star players (VANCOUVER FOR EXAMPLE!!!!)

This stat speaks to the great defense played by Pittsburgh in the SCF:
Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski combined for one empty net goal in the six games.
I realize Thornton doesn't score in bunches, but Pavelski does and had been in the playoffs. I think Pavelski was the leading goal scorer this postseason. Holding them both to one meaningless goal is impressive.

I did not watch much of the Penguins during the regular season even though I am in Penguins territory here in west central Pennsylvania. I did, however, catch some playoff games and I must say that the goaltending for both the Pittsburgh and San Jose teams was great for the Stanley Cup games. Kudos to both goalies.

Martin Jones was amazing.
We had a chance to see him play a few years ago when he was in the Kings farm system, and playing for the Manchester (NH) Monarchs.
I remember thinking then how good he was, but with Quick ahead of him, how would he get any meaningful playing time.

I enjoyed watching it, but did NOT feel they were evenly matched. I thought the Pens looked better throughout the series, despite the close scores.

They were clearly faster. And while their big names weren't exactly lighting up the scoreboard like a pinball machine, they did what they had to do despite the herculean efforts of Jones. Conversely, where were the big guns for the Sharks? Pavelski & Thornton? Couldn't find the net with a roadmap. Marlowe? Virtual no-show.

The Sharks will have nightmares about a lot of missed opportunities during the off-season. But IMO, it all comes down to the fact that the Penguins really were the better team. And as a Flyers fan, it's hard not to choke on those words... ;)

Those two were awesome in the playoffs. LA couldn't figure out a way to stop them, despite their strong roster: Doughty, Carter, Kopitar, Gaborik, Lucic, Vinny...dang.

Quick is getting older and inconsistent. I saw the height difference between him and Enroth this year and it was shocking. Trading away Jones was probably LA's worst transaction in the modern age. It bit them right in the butt a year later, no pun intended.

Quick also is getting a little...egotistical. He sometimes lets his ego get in the way during games which leads to the other team exploiting his frazzled mind.

Mike Yeo is now the 'coach in waiting' in St. Louis. I'm not so sure I'm a fan of this idea. Not Yeo being a head coach, this 'coach in waiting' business.

The NHL has decided to expand to......drum roll.....Las Vegas. Ugh.
