Official Aguilar Owners Numbers Club

Hi all,

I have the opportunity to acquire a DB 412 for a very nice price. Before driving (a long drive) to check it out, the seller warned me that one speaker was faulty and would require remplacement (hence the lower than usual price). So I was wondering : is it possible to buy a remplacement? what type of 12 inch speakers does Aguilar use ?

Good luck! I tried reaching out to the company for a SL210 replacement speaker and they (Korg) were absolutely no help in telling me what type of speaker was in there, let alone how/where to acquire one. Please follow up here if you find anything out!

Waiting on SL 115 8ohm to match with my tone hammer, 700 and SL 410 4ohm cab. I wrote to Aguilar for advice, got this reply from Mike. ”Based on what you have already, adding a 2x10 would be a good choice if you are looking to tighten up the low end a bit and have a bit more of a focused midrange. If you want a fatter low end, we'd suggest adding a 1x15.”

Hey, they gave up on issuing numbers eight years ago at #195 I think so we'll start back up at #200
Official Aguilar Club - part 4

I'll go first. My #1 amp is an Aguilar TH-350. I don't own any of their cabs as I already own too many LOL but I hear they are killer too. OTOH it sounds great through any cab - or even as just a DI .

So who wants to be member #201 :)?

Full members list always available here in case I croak :wideyed::

About a month ago I walked into my "local" (I say "local" because I live in a very rural area with music shops/guitar shops so this was a 45 min drive) and they have both the AG700 and TH700 that I could A-B. WOW, the AG700 is THE best bass amp I have ever heard! Amazing! Totally blew me away and I am looking to get one this summer. Any owners of the AG700 on here? If so, how is the reliability of this amp? Has it ever "cut out" on you? I am interested in the Storm King pedal, how does it take pedals? I already own a pair (2x15) Ampeg Portaflexes that I will be using. They had the 2x12's at the shop and everything sounded pristine. GREAT bass boost switch! The blue light was constantly flickering even on low volume! Thanks in advance! -Bill

I’ve been gigging an AG700 for a couple years and have had no problems with it at all. No cutting out, no smoke, no unexpected behaviors. I also owned a TH500 that I loved, but I ended up loving the AG700 more so I eventually sold the TH500. The blue light has never flickered on either of my Aguilar amps, so I wouldn’t buy that particular one you tried in the store if the light was flickering. I don’t think it’s supposed to do that!

I owned the AG700 for several years, great amp, very reliable and very easy to get great sounds from it. Sold it last year to another TB’er and I also still own a TH500 & TH700 I just preferred the EQ/controls. Never any issues with any of them, no excessive clipping, great amps.
And I am now the owner of this particular AG700, which continues working without any issues whatsoever. Thanks Bart!

Wondering is anyone using 2x 8ohm SL 115’s and how this would compare to 410 4ohm + 115 which is my current set up with TH 700. Thinking of getting a DB 751 which I don’t think does 2.67 ohm but I still want to keep the TH for smaller gigs and back up.
The DB 751, like its predecessor the DB 750 will happily run at 2 ohms. Delivers over 900 watts RMS.

Ok, perhaps someone can help me sort this out. I posted on 2 threads on TB what others who own the Aguilar AG700 and the Mesa Boogie D800 or D800+ what there experiences have been. Interestingly, on the MB thread hands down all people say the MB 800+ blows the AG700 out of the water AND Aguilar's customer service (since they changed hands) is sub-par to MB's. I live in a rural area and have only been able to try the AG700 and I thought it was the best sounding bass amp I ever heard. However, no one around has a MB 800+ so I am left to resort to others opinions and YouTube videos. Which as you know is nothing like physically trying it out. outside of hearing them both side by side, the only "downfall" with the Aguilar AG700 is that there is no headphone jack, it doesn't come with a gig bag, and the warranty is a couple years less than the MB's which is also transferable. Any thoughts moving forward before I make a purchase I might regret one way or the other??
