Since a couple of days I am an Ampeg owner. Usually I loathe Ampeg for the layers of blankets they put over any bass sound but my new SVP-CL preamp is lucid! I love it to death and beyond.

I don't own an ampeg yet, but I have my eyes on the SVT-6 PRO. I was wondering if this particular head, a very fine one by pretty much all accounts, is subject to foreign make like all to many currently made Ampegs. Or, is the SVT-6 Pro going to be kept american made? Any input is appreciated, thankyou.
All current products are manufactured in Vietnam under a Chinese production team. From what I've heard on here, reliability is hit or miss at the moment. But when they work, they work great just like the old stuff. I haven't heard of them using inferior parts or anything like that. I have heard they're trying to get local sources for all the components, though, so that might be something to watch out for in the near future.
The SVT-6 PRO has 1100watts @ 4 ohms and 750 watts @ 8 ohms. The cabs i'm thinking about getting (an Orange OBC 410 and Orange OBC 115) are rated at 600 watts with 8 ohms and 400 watts with 8 ohms respectively. This brings the total wattage of the cabs to 1000 and 16 ohms.
However, I was thinking that if I ran them parallel, that the combined RMS of these combined cabs would be exceeded by 100 watts, is that within saftey?
The only other option I could think of, if my first idea dosen't hold water, is if I ran them in series, which would bring the grand total to 16ohms of resistance. Correct me if I'm wrong when I say the SVT-6 PRO is only meant to handle 8 watts. And even if it could take the 16 ohms, wouldn't that really lower the total volume of the cabs volume.

ThunderLizard, care to make some comparisons between the two B-15's? Is the 60's cab you have a double baffle? Looks like it from the pic, but I can't tell for sure.

I prefer the 70's Fliptop when I gig. It seems to have a little more bottom.
I've heard of the double baffle when I read an article about Jess Oliver. I'll check, but tell me what to look for!!
I've also got another Fliptop bottom that I use with my B2. I'll put that pic up tonight.
