Only have had it a week. Spent a good part of Friday getting used to it in my practice space (garage) and used it for a show Saturday. Not sure the cabs are giving me what I want. They are sealed, and I’m having doubts. I wanted light, compact cabs, and this was the choice. I did A/B them with a pair of Orange OBC112’s, which are ported, and (luckily) I didn’t notice a huge improvement in tone. And then the Orange cabs got sold, so no going back now. I did not use the “Shape” button at Saturdays gig, and I didn’t not adjust the amp at all after we started, since the sound guy had already set us up. I think I’ll need the “shape” feature engaged and then push up the right mids to compensate, and hopefully that will give me what I’m looking for. I felt I was missing some warm low end. I was using the subs at about 9 o’clock and the tube drive (doom) also at about 9.

Also, the head had a terrible buzz when I hit a G. I’ve tightened every screw and jack nut I can find inside and out it the buzz is still there. Not sure what to do about that.
Chasing a sound/tone can be difficult. As you know the room can dictate how your bass/rig sounds. Sometimes the molecules in the air (not joking) can have an effect on how your bass/rig sounds. I'd give it a few different circumstances before making a final assessment.

The whole rig is going to my rehearsal space tonight and it will get a workout tonight and Thursday in a band situation.

I do have the green light from Sweetwater to do a direct swap (with them covering all shipping) of these two Ashdown neo cabs for a GK 212 neo vertical cab. It’s a front ported cab, and that’s very tempting. I have a couple weeks to decide, so we’ll see.

Used the 115 and 210 neo cabs with the Geezer head at my rehearsal space Tuesday (with a Thunderbird) and tonight (with a P-bas) and still wasn’t happy with the cabs. Very boxy sounding, mid, mid low focused.

Then I plugged the head into my SVT212AV, a front ported 2x12. And there it was! Nice full clear and warm bottom end and great overall tone with great clarity. No boxy, cold sound.

Now, hoping the GK Neo IV 212 4 ohm, will also bring it, making for a good light compact rig.

I'm new to Ashdown, I scored this a few months ago, fell in love with the Ashdown tone, and have since picked up a Geezer. I love these things, they sound SO good.

Getting to know my Geezer, and I think I have found a good match in a compact cabinet:

IMG_6949.jpeg

Lots of bass outta this. So far just tried with my 1970 Jazz, and it took some time to wrangle a sound out of it. The Jazz gets pretty bright, but also had a lot of meat on the thinner D/G strings. Towards the end of practice I disengaged the shape (pushed in for flat) and that opened it up and tamed the lows. Gonna bring a Thunderbird and a P-bass on Friday night and see what those bring.

Question for the experts: ABM 500 evo iii. I don't think I have ever had the input needle into the red, not much anyway, even with a G&L which is known for powerful pickups. But all other basses are passive. My volume on basses is all the way up 90% of the time, and my input is on the head is around 3:00 or a little more at times. Head sounds great, but I keep hearing about avoiding too much into the red when I can barely get into the red. I do not play really hard. Head is ungodly loud so it's not like it's struggling or anything. Any thoughts?

interesting. I have my input set at noon (and the active switch off), and I can get in the red with my active bass. I have to go to 1-2 o clock to get in the red with my hot P bass pickups.

After some brief experimenting at home I found the following:
I can get it to hit into the red if I play hard (with another Pbass), which I don't typically do, so that's clearly some of it.
I notice more overdrive compression disengaged, but I like a little so I'm figuring that out a bit.
I'll have to try the old Pbass and see how that goes, but I think I may not be having as much of a problem as I thought. At rehearsal I don't have time to be fooling with the amp, so I'm limited on what I can notice and adjust.

I've been running my CTM15 with my RM210 & RM115 EVO II cabs, but the stack takes up a little too much for living room use.

Today I ordered a used ABM-112H-PN Pro Neo cab for something a little more appropriately sized for practice and other small-ish applications.

It's only about a 1/2 inch wider and taller and the same depth. I'm also interested in the difference in sound quality, compared to the RM cabs.

Anyone know details on what this cab is? My local music go round has one for $200. I am sure it is heavy as can be, but might be fun to own?

Hello Ashdown club!

Does anyone know if the cab in the MiniRig is sold separately?

I have a GK 1001RB and an ABM 8x10, and also a GK MB200 for practice.
The thought of a "mini stack" mimicking my big-rig makes me laugh, so its a priority now.

I found locally an ABM 210H that would match, but being vertical is appealing like the Ampeg mini stack series.

Any leads or info is appriciated!
8x10 pic to follow, of course!

I have not seen it sold separately, but they do make a vertical. They did make a vertical 212 cab that pops up on reverb from time to time.

cool rig! Nothing cooler than an 8x10

I currently have a Quilter V803 but am missing tubes. I hate how you can hear the immediateness of solid state with no give.

To all the CTM-100 owners, how's the headroom with pedals? I'd run it with some grit then hit it with a bass OCD or Rat for more dirt.

I’m assuming that the qtube voice on the V803 isn’t giving you what you want? I certainly notice more “give” and that’s how I run it most of the time. But I don’t have an all-tube amp to compare.
Yea it's always on qtube as that's the mode I gravitated towards. It still doesn't do what I'd like it to do, so I'm returning it and already have a CTM-100 coming in!

Looks like Sweetwater has a used full stack for a really good price:
