Picked up a really nice ATK500 a few weeks ago. Original pickups and electronics were too noisy for me so it's on the bench right now with a new Glock pre, Ultralight tuners, fret-job now I'm just waiting on my pickup from Bassculture.
Really loved the way it plays but man was it noisy. Shielding did improve the noise a lot but not enough for me.

I paired my my Glock pre with the neodymium Bassculture...what choice of magnet for yours?

My first active bass. Purchased new Oct 2010 from a little music store/cafe in Bismark North Dakota: Stringbean Music. So, its called "Dakota". Very handsome big bass with its Koa wood veneer top, ash body, 5 piece walnut/maple neck and string through body. 3 band EQ so it can almost sound like anything: P, J, Stingray and maybe even a TBird. But not a Ric! Still getting the groove of it as its new to me. Strings seem to be the deal maker with it. Some DR Sunbeams were just too bright, the stock Elixer's coating was getting hairy, some XL Chrome flats seemed to be the ticket, but I found some all nickel (core and wrap) from Fender that I'm giving a good go on. Like them so far. Deeper with less midrange - and this bass seems to have a natural tendancy for midrange tone.
I added a rim of copper tape to the electronics cavity for a better contact with the cover, and also added the black abalone topped dome knobs to replace the stock chrome ones. After this photo, I also removed the big ATK signature chromed bridge and carefully 'satinized' it with an automotive grade scuff pad. The result looks like brushed metal and is far better/higher quality looking IMHO. Thanks for your advice Lublin.
And thanks to maman THand for his ATK chat while I was trying to track one down last Autumn. I don't like gobs of chrome on my motorcycle either.

Nice photo, and that thing is PURDY. Makes me wish I still enjoyed 4-strings!
Most of the Koa topped 750's look better than any of the Fender Victor Bailey basses ..... and the Bailey I owned looked pretty good....and you guys know how much those are going for these days
Picked up an ATK300 the other day. Finally got it home and connected last night, I could barely put it down! I love this thing...
I am very much a bass newcomer, but I love the sounds I can get out this, especially compared to the real entry level basses I've been looking at. Can't tell much more about it. If I'm deciphering the serial # correctly, it was manufactured in 2007. It is the black finish with the pearl pick guard.
At some point I'll post a pic or two...I promised over on the Ibanez thread too, so now I really got to

Heres my new ATK500. Complete with mods. Dropped a Basscultures neo pickup and a Glockenklang 3 band pre and wow. 
This thing sounds killer and is very quiet. Oh and with the mods it's around 8.5 lbs.
Thinking about a new pickgaurd as I really don't care for the clear one. Maybe plain black or Baltic amber?
