sorry if i come off as a noob, but i've been out of the TB loop for a while (even with bass in general.....

That's because we're a bunch of tightwads, and it's way too soon for blowout deals on the new models.
If you look closer, I think there were a couple of people with ATK200's on here, but that's about it.
I had a go with the new ATK200 at my local L&M. It didn't feel anything like my 750KA, and felt and sounded cheap in comparison.
I finally finished my 2-pickup ATK conversion. Two ATK pickups, neck pickup mounted close to the truss rod adjuster, in the "mudbucker" position, with an EMG Active Blend Control.
The low end is HUGE, yet it's still not woofy and indistinct, like a Gibson EBO.

I agree that the one I reviewed didn't feel like my 750....by any stretch.
But I thought it felt and sounded pretty damned good
Hey TBer's, on my ATK305, I dont think that my middle position on the three way selector switch works. It sounds exactly like the back position when I put it in the middle. Is that how it's supposed to be? If not, how can I fix this?
What are you playing through? I find that the difference goes from pretty subtle to quite strong, depending on EQ, cabs, etc. When I play with some treble boost through a solid state amp, the difference is quite noticeable. With a big, swampy bottom end, not so much.
Try diming the treble control on the bass, and lowering the bass controls a little on both your bass and your amp. After doing this, you should at least hear an increase in RF noise on the middle position.
Rear position is supposed to be "attack" mode....
Usually it's the middle and "front" that some folks don't notice that difference.
It is a slight, and possibly depends on your rig/eq on how noticeable it is.
Maybe your switch is installed backwards....is there a noticeable difference between all the way forward and all the way to the back?
In Front mode (clsoest to neck) it sounds kind of p-bassish with less highs. In back attack mode it sounds like back mode on an SR5. In middle mode it sounds exactly like back mode but with a different background hiss. On my SR5 the front and back mode are akin to the ATK but the middle mode sounds distinctly different. Real midrangey with a different timbre. I have played it through A GK800rb a Peavey 700 tour Apeavey VB2 through Avatar 212 neo and Carvin Brx210neo.
And yes, I have dimed the treble and took out all the mids etc to try and find a distinguishable difference between middle and attack
Middle should sound like the front, with just a bump @6.5 ... Haven't got a clue as to why yours sounds like the rear...sorry, bro

If you dim the treble and cut the mids you effectively kill the difference between the "bright" and the "attack" positions. The middle position would just become a weaker variation of the front "Trad" position. I'm on my third ATK... a '96 transparent black 305... and I've always heard a distinct difference between all three positions on every ATK I've had the pleasure of owning.

So, I had my first two-pickup gig this morning. Happy-clappy university crowd at a suburban church, quite loud, and stylistically similar to U2.
I was surprised to find the neck pickup quite useful, even though my Genz Streamliner can lay down some fairly serious lows with the bridge pickup alone.
With the blend centered, it still had a fair amount of "snap" and articulation, but a rounder low end with more fundamental. Perfect for my best Adam Clayton imitation...

I almost got rid of my ATK500 with the BAsscultures/Glock setup but after my gig Saturday I pulled the ad. Just sounded perfect on the stage and out front. the room was super boomy too. My rig was the back-line and people jamming later used my bass too. Sounded great. Bass player in the band before us had a Warwick corvette. Sounded muddy and not well defined.
Not sure if I could handle two of those pickups. One seems to be plenty.
