I'm going to be patient and see what rolls around after Christmas. I'm getting married on 1/1/11 and headed on my honeymoon right after so I might need to save up some money beforehand. :). But I am still on the prowl for my next bass.

The grounds should go back to the sleeve of the jack, which is the inner most part.

Here is a schematic for wiring a SR passive, which is as close as I can find right now, for your situation. Maybe it can give you a few ideas to try.:

I would also be willing to wager that more than a few of the newer ones will b e available after Christmas. I had one of the few ATK300s in black I picked up at the higher $199 price point but won't be making any formal decisions on keeping or selling it until after the holidays and even then would likely ask the market price of $300 for it.

As I've said plenty of times, the original prices are more than fair for these basses. I wish they would stop having these clearances because it hurts the value of the model, and gives the impression that they must be poorly built, cheap beginner basses to sell for so little. They aren't. They are built and play/sound as good as anything Fender has for under $1500.

Anywho...I am surprised to see you'd even consider selling yours so soon. You seemed to really want one badly, is there something about it you don't like, or is the posibility of turning a profit getting the best of you?

The only good thing about the blowouts is that it got some more out on the scene.
Ibanez has done a piss poor job of getting behind the ATK series ... it's up to us to spread the word.
I sure hope we can get the 310 series here in the states after NAMM ...seriously sweatin' the surf green one

I wouldn't complain if the ATK315 made it over here. I've never owned a maple fingerboard before, and prefer the look of Rosewood.

Having an ATK that duplicated the specs of my ATK305 but had a darker fingerboard, would definitely be a draw for me, if the tone was anywhere near close. And recent experiences have convinced me that the tonal impact of a maple board, is less than I had previously understood.

Sorry if I gave the impression I was interested in selling quickly. That was not the intention. As you are aware, I went a bit out of the way to get one at a decent price. I haven't played anything for more than 35 years and this is my "re-entry" into playing (bass this time instead of guitar). The only problem is I have had are finding the time to play. I also want to give my son a chance to compare this to his 5-string G&L and I plan to play more over the holidays with both his and mine to make any "final" decisions.

congrats on the decision to get back into playing, and this time going with bass. I had a long dry spell myself, doing the work/family thing and had bought into the idea that I was too old. Being involved with my son and his band drew me back in, and I found out these kids looked to me as a mentor for having actually been there when so many great things were happening.
I looked on youtube and saw guys like "zodiakironfist" having a blast playing music they love while still working a real job and holding down a career, and that was a great revelation...that I could actually do what I want. Then through TB, I became more aware of jazz and of all the great jazz musicians that play until they die, and I realized you are never too old, and it is never too late. Don't worry about the time. If you want to play, you will find more and more ways to make time. It will almost take care of itself. But I admit, I always want more time than I find...but that will probably always be true. Best of luck, and enjoy sharing this ride with your son.

No worries man, you use coherent english with punctuation, so it's a pleasure read. I love hearing about peoples stories/backgrounds etc. I've had many a long-winded post to go around for everyone :)

Also a random update, still waiting to get my pup and stock preamp, but Im busy at the moment anyway with my pedal board. when its finished in a week or two Ill probably post over in the effects and link it here :)

I've missed what kind of pickup you're waitin' on Justin....
I hit a local Christmas Jam this evening that had some of the top musicians in my area participating.
I took my modded 300 and played a couple sets.
Every bassist there asked what the hell it was that I was playing.... even the guy with the brand new Big Al ;)
The Basscultures/Glockenklang combo is the shiznitt .... ATK's rule :smug:
