I hadn't paid any attention to the control layout, Steve....
I agree, it's not what you'd expect, but they have those nifty transparent thingee's that tell ya what's what.
The fact that the layout has changed might be an indication that the pots have boards on them, as my Glock preamp does, and it was necessary to lay it out as such.
To be sure they aren't using the same preamp that is used in the 300/700 series.
ATK's may have been dismissed by a number of people who thought that it's a "500.00" bass....some of those may look at the Prestige model with a renewed interest...who knows?
IMHO, it's a hell of a lot more than a 500.00 bass...that's me though.
I've owned 2 BTB Prestige basses...a 6 string with the old body style and a 5'er with the new body style....both on par, or exceeding, anything I've played at that price point and well above...they just weren't ATK's...so I sold 'em

Yeah,..it's a lot of clams....but folks spend that much everyday for Fenders, EBMM's,..etc... everyday because it's what they want.
If an ATK Prestige is ultimately what ya want, I don't see the difference.
Until now, our options were the 300/700 series...Kudo's to Ibanez for offering a l'il something more for die hard fans like myself....hell...I like bologna sandwiches...don't mind eatin' 'em for a while.
And I imagine it'll be top notch, right outta the box
