Cool,
I use Fender flats on mine (they were the only flats in the local store, and they were also cheap as chips) and they're great for me. Although I don't think they're particularly light, and I have thought about putting lighter strings on there. BUt at the moment, it all works.

My self defreted 300 is not quite as smooth as my brother's old 300FL, but it's pretty close.

Steve

Hey, yeah Steve, nothing wrong with fender flats, I've used those ... I must be getting old or something ... in the last year and a half, I've changed all my bass strings, round and flatwound to light gauge on my fretted and fretless bass's ... Light gauge doesn't seem as "tight" and they're somewhat easier on the fingers. I find you can play faster and easier to pop and slap if you're into that. Still plenty of bottom end ooomph too... I'm not talking piccolo gauge ... I like to use .045 through to .095. Anyhow! :D

I really like the sunburst 90's ATK with a rosewood fretboard, they've ruined the newer version for me with the bright maple fretboard. Looks okay on the natural finish ATK though, looks like they've stained it darker or something. I really should go try one of these out.

I use Ernie Ball Slinky strings on my baby, for my sound i dont use the B string alot so my choice was this tunning (EADGC) and it works fine to me.

I recorded today a mini sample of my precious, the pre amp settings was "i will use a scale from 1 to 8 on my knob settings for y'all to understand better" Bass Boost/Cut - 6 Mid Boost/Cut - 5 Treble Boost/Cut - 8 and my switch was on the "attack"
So i decided to play a nice tune from At The Drive In - Quarantine so here is my sample, the bass was plugged into my computer mic and simply recorded it, played it with pick then just fingers

Very nice ATK tone in your sample there partner!:bassist: I see you're in Portugal ... I got to visit Portugal back in '89 and it was great! What part of the country do you live in?

May as well post it here, someone might appreciate it at least :p

It's nice! very similar to mine ... the 300fl's have quite a unique tone IM0 ... compared to other fretless basses I've played ... just the nature of it being an ATK I suppose ... too bad the truss rod cover is missing ... haha

cool ... someone should grab that ... do they even make fretless ATK's anymore with the new version ATKs?? I just checked the ibanez website and I don't see that as an option ... so no rosewood fretboards either apparently ... :( So I guess that means if you see an atk even from a distance and it's got a dark fretboard, you should assume it's fretless.

if that's the case ... quite a rare gem indeed! Glad I got mine when I did! Especially with the popularity nowadays.

it's too bad, that uk bastard only send's it to the uk ...

i would hit that fo sho

3years ago i almost had one like that but fretted ... for 200 euros , i was such an ass back then, that deal slipped away from me :(
e-mail and ask if he is willing to ship it?

I could imagine :)

My 305 has to go to Ibanez for warranty work :-( . The neck doesn't have enough relief with the trust rod backed off all the way. This is a total bummer. I should have seen it coming though. When I received the bass the neck had a killer upbow, but backing the trust rod fixed it. I didn't realize that I had backed it off all the way. Now that the weather has changed theres no more room for adjustment.

What sucks is that I got the bass from Musicians Friend and I'm waiting on them to mail me the receipt since I didn't get one with the bass (I had exchanged it from an MTD). And I have to go to a Ibanez dealer to get everything squared away to ship it to and Authorized Repair Center (I'm gonna feel like a total ass having to do that, but at least I buy all my strings there, right?).

OH WELL!
