Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

My super compact arrived the other day, thanks to map34157!:p
Went on a blind faith to purchase this cab and the TB community did not fail me.:thumbsup:

Barefaced's 12's really put out smooth clean tone with lots of lows, and those 2 cabs both have tweeters. The SM is only 21-23 pounds, BB2 is 26-29. Both can handle twice the power of the SL-112. They do cost more which is the balancing factor. Nevertheless, I am not selling the Aggies, they are quality speakers as well.

My take on the One10, is that it can't do everything, but it can do a lot. Even though it might be the world's mightiest single 10 cab it is still a single 10 cab. I figure it covers what a quality-but-not-boutique 2x10 does. Sometimes you need more than that. If you want a more crisp, modern tone I can certainly see how you might prefer a tweetered cab, the One10 is more of a vintage-y cab, like all the 10's from BF. You'll enjoy the Aggies but for clean fat and modern I don't think you could beat a BF Big Baby 2.

Thanks for the advice. We'll see how I like the Aguilar SL 112. As far as the BB2 - it wouldn't make any sense in my case since I have a pair of Greenboy Fearless F112s. They are light - only 32 lbs, but they like a lot of power. I'm looking for something to play at low volume for practice and small group rehearsals that is sub 30 lbs. I suppose the SuperMidget might fit the bill if I'm not happy with the SL 112.

As to the SL112, my experience is that you need two of them. A single SL sounds, to me, not great. Mids are jagged, bass shy. It's not that it is terrible as a one cab solution but it is disappointing considering the cost. Two of them smooths things out.

I think a Fender Rumble sounds much better than a single SL112.

Yeah, if you already have a couple GF F112, probably no point in getting a BB2, it would not be appreciably smaller. SM might work, but since you're looking for a easily portable practice and rehearsal rig, and not worrying about it being your main performance cab per se, the SL-112 would do fine. If after trying the SL112 it's not what you hoped, I don't think you could go wrong with the SM. Let me rephrase-- I couldn't go wrong with a SM; different strokes of course. Regardless, as long as you get what works for you, that's the only thing that matters. I'll be interested to hear your review of the SL112 when you get it.

BTW, I dig your Dingwall. I've never played one but some day would like to check one out.

A brief tone report of my new One10 cab. First it feels like it needs to break in and then it will "open". As for volume to size ratio it is just Wow...phenomenal capacity in such a tiny box. And it is very low, even boomy so I have to roll off some bass on the preamp. As for the tone my NY604 sounds richer than One10 and has more complexity in the mids and more focused lows with emphasized low mid punch. So I may keep both for now for different purposes. And I can imagine that adding the second One10 will make a wall crushing mini-stack. I will think about another one if I bond with this one now.

I'd wait a couple of gigs before judging the One10, they do open up, and in my opinion the 10's are tighter to start with than, say, BF 12's. It also may take a while to hone in on how to set your EQ for this cab. Don't be afraid to be a bit more drastic with your EQ, this cab can take it. My 2 cents. Hope it works for you, but if not, here's hoping you find what does work for you. Give us a report after you've gigged and and stretched it out a bit.

Pluto, thanks for advice, I will give it many takes for sure. I am sure it will work fine for me, well it works for me already cause I will not find another 15 lbs cab projecting such power anyway! One10 already has at least one reason to keep it which is volume to size and weight ratio, unbelievable. Thank you, Alex and everybody who encouraged me when having hard times with delivery, this was worth going through!

I run a D-800 with my One10s, with great results, either one at a time or as a stack. I urge you to accept that it will take numerous hours of playing with your eq to find what you like best.....and then you'll have to find what's best in a band context. Don't be tempted to quickly decide you've found "it", and by all means use all the eq at your disposal to explore, regardless of the head. And +1 to these cabs opening up with time at volume.

I finally played through my One10 today. With an MB800 and with an MBF800. It seems very 'middy'...not sure what I expected but it sounds nothing like the SuperTwin at all. Not even a little bit.

I bought it used but the previous owner said it hasn't been broken in yet and I believe it. The closest cab to it soundwise is the Ampeg 210AV, which I don't really care for because it's so...'middy'.

Further thoughts will be shared after it breaks in and after a gig, it may Totally Slay after it gets used to making low notes! :hyper:
