Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

I might eventually swap the BB2 for a SM (a "mini BB2") as my gigs are looking to be more acoustic in nature and the SM reportedly rival's a Greenboy Fearless 112 in volume. That would be enough for me.

Also worth mentioning that Alex said the SM is as loud as a BB2, Super Compact or Two10, a good frame of reference for many Barefaced users.

Can anyone compare and contrast a BBII, to an AE212?

It's been a while since I had my AE212 but I'd say the BB2 is more even and has more mids. The low end content is more manageable too.

I remember my AE212 being rather scooped and unwieldy with low end. I moved to the CN212 as soon as they were available.

A pair of BB2's would definitely be louder. Heck, a single might be in the same ballpark.

Quick question for @Ukiah Bass :

Regarding your current BB2 and former F210, in your opinion which cabinet would exceed the other in a contest of combined low frequency handling and perceived loudness? Leaving their impedance difference aside, which cabinet would out-perform the other if one could only have one of those two cabinets (to be used with a mega-watt amplifier and a 4-string bass.)

Thanks in advance!

Barefaced BB2 wins hands down - in all categories. I used to use a QSC PLX3602 after a Sonic Farm 2di4 preamp. So I know "mega wattage" and how it adds headroom! My Reiner Studio 1200 does the same thing.

So, I have two of the One 10 cabs coming from @bassfootballguy - bought yesterday from the TB classifieds. I plan to use them with my Mesa D800 for all my gigging needs. I should find out tomorrow night if I did the right thing pulling the trigger without having ever even touched any Barefaced cab in my life. Shucks, I have never even seen on in person. Here's hoping I won't be disappointed.

Congrats.
I did the same with a Two10. Never heard one and never seen a BF cab before I pulled the trigger. But I just had to know about them. And the only way is to try it with your amps and basses.

@1954bassman I think you'll be pleasantly shocked unless your band is insanely loud.
Tomorrow night is rehearsal/practice for my newest band (no gigs yet!) and we are at most moderately loud. Drummer, two guitars, my wife on fiddle and mandolin, and another vocalist. All seasoned musicians, so we play as a band, no loud egoists.

What I am really seeking is a good deep, thick tone.

I think you'll be happy. Please PM me and let me know how it goes. Sounds like a fun ensemble.
I will stay in touch. The band is a lot of fun, with over 200 years total playing experience. We are covering everything from Hymns, Old Southern Gospel, Traditional Contemporary, Country Gospel, right up to Jeremy Camp and Chris Tomblin. Nothing pop, but a wide swath of styles. One of the best drummers I have ever played with, and four really good singers. Can't wait to try the Barefaced cabs out.

I have exactly that stack and head, and I loooooooooooove it! IME you will want to add some lows via eq-don't be reticent, the cabs can handle it and it sounds joyful!

I ran the EQ flat and voicing at 2 o'clock, DEEP disengaged. Man I loved it. Here it is, in all its monolith glory. All 36# of it! :woot::woot:
