I wasn't thinking about an HPF for driver protection, more for shaping the sound like copping more of a sealed cab vibe or reining in the low end extension if it is a bit much for a room. If you can change the low end focus a bit like a lens it expands the palette you have to work with.
That would work if the filter has a shallow enough slope. If it's a steep filter you'll lose the 'size' of your sound. The roll-off of all our Gen 3 cabs is designed to work well with most room acoustics, in fact that was a key part of the development of the BB2 and BT2.
