I wasn't thinking about an HPF for driver protection, more for shaping the sound like copping more of a sealed cab vibe or reining in the low end extension if it is a bit much for a room. If you can change the low end focus a bit like a lens it expands the palette you have to work with.

That would work if the filter has a shallow enough slope. If it's a steep filter you'll lose the 'size' of your sound. The roll-off of all our Gen 3 cabs is designed to work well with most room acoustics, in fact that was a key part of the development of the BB2 and BT2.

That's what I've noticed about my SuperTwin, Alex. I'm carrying a much bigger low-end than before but it still works in most rooms. This is why the HPF got put away.

So recently I had a chance to A/B TH500 vs Mesa D-800 with my One10. Mesa definitely sounds cleaner, I honestly was not impressed by its tone set flat BUT the voicing knob opens its tone drastically, very smart control. It really sounds "creamy" with One10. On the other hand, TH500 has more complex mids and surprisingly sounds louder with the same gain and master setting. Dunno why but it really seems louder. D-800 has tighter and deeper lows, TH500 sounds grittier and more "alive" but lacks some definition in low end and highs. Very hard choice....

You can't compare gain and master across two different amps. Knob position doesn't really mean much. I don't know about the Aggie, but the Mesa should have a nice gradual taper rather than all of its volume in one small spot on the knob.

Just got my new OneTen that I intend to use for small upright gigs etc. Despite review promising rich creamy bass response it seems weak in the bottom end although quite articulate. Takes a fair bit of EQ with my Clarus head to get it where I'd like it, at least in my studio. Don't have a suitable upright gig until next Friday so I'm curious to see how it does then. It *is* tiny and light though.

Mine seemed to really open up after 3-4 hours of playing. I remember rehearsing with one of my bands and it started sounding a lot bigger all of a sudden. Also, what surface it is on and how it is aligned makes a difference. On a hard floor such as wood or brick with the port facing down is different than on carpeting, etc.

The taper on the Mesa D800 is much more usable, so you don't end up with 90% of the amp's volume in the first 30% of the taper on the master volume pot.

The cone is very light which makes it very efficient (air is light too so light cones couple better because they're more like the air they're pushing). A lightweight cone wouldn't normally work in such a small box - look at old hi-fi speakers from the '50s and '60s - very light cones and very loud with only a handful of watts but HUGE boxes to give them decent bass.

i'm just a semi-pro guitar cab designer/wannabee builder, with a few prototypes, have not ventured too much into designing bass cabs though (have built maybe 1 decent one), my algebra skills may not be up to par for that!

I've been playing bass semi-professionaly for 40 years, I have an abnormal amount of cabinetry, standards like Ampeg & GK, boutiques like Acme & Accugroove, others like Peavey and Avatar, yadda, yadda. But I have never heard anything like Barefaced gear, the tone, the volume, the girth and depth and the LIGHT WEIGHT that Barefaced has. Simply astonishing! My cab GAS is cured! (well maybe I'll add a Big Baby II or a Super Compact, or a Six10, or...)

It started as custom and is now part of the active product line

I really just want to know the dispersion but I guess it's not gonna happen. i wasn't aware that the driver is proprietary. I don't know about the waveguide. I'm really quite frustrated by this, even if it's all proprietary why is the dispersion a secret?

I use a super twin with a d-800. Light, very loud and clear. I play in loud 3 piece rock band in small to medium clubs and pubs. Can't imagine anyone needing anymore than this type of set up for most applications.

That is the setup I will have. I'm playing medium sized clubs, competing with two guitar stacks and heavy hitting drums.
I'm really excited about this. Hopefully it will ship soon.
