I think my SC shipment required payment before delivery (at the time of), but my SM tax was billed after. I can't recall which shipping company was used, but it might've been different for each cab.
Hi all, I'm in the market for a new cab and so far it seems like a BB2 or an FR800 might be the ticket.
I reckon this so as I play synth bass, much prefer the way both my bass and synth sound through my IEMs than through my amp, and lastly as I'm going to music college in september and I'd like to be able to gig on public transport.
I've considered the FR800 as I have a darkglass VMTD on all the time, and if it can suitably drive the FR800 that'd save me shopping around for a micro head too (currently using an ashdown ABM900, too much of a lead sled to take on a bus).
Any advice would be welcome, especially on the FR800 front!

At least it's only 5%. Here in Canada we get hit with 5% duty and then 13% sales tax before FedEx will deliver the cab.
I'm in! I just picked up a Big Baby 2 from the classifieds, it was a local seller. I used it last night for the first time on a gig with my GK MB Fusion 800. I'm a long time AccuGroove and Acoustic Image user. The BB2 has more lows and highs than the AG. The AccuGrooves are still amazing, and while I'm going to probably sell my old Tri112L, the Wedgie is going nowhere. (The AccuGrooves are a bit more natural in the mids, where on the BB2 it has more of a gap in the mids, but very clear highs and lows.) That being said, I kind of would like to have a second cab of the same brand to make a stack. I was really thinking a One10 would be great, but then I read somewhere that it doesn't pair well with the BB2, so maybe a Super Midget would be better. I'm wondering how these cabs compare to the Acoustic Image stuff for upright bass. I also wonder how that One10 compares to an Acme B1 or the new Genzler BA 10-2.
Fellow BF buffs......I am really into my One 10 stack, either with GB Shuttle or Walkabout on top.........but I was thinking (which always means trouble)...........
that maybe the lack of tweets and high end sizzle of these cabs might be a perfect match for a Tech 21 VT bass (head or pedal)?? I had the VT Dlxe pedal a few eons ago, but it was too grindy and shiny/crackly/sparkly up top for my taste through the cabs I had.......has anyone tried this effect/head through one of Alex's 10" driver-loaded cabs? Opinions/comparisons appreciated.

I'm guessing I know which cab that was. Assuming I'm right, congrats, that was a great price! I almost convinced a friend to buy the head that went with it so we could have both items shipped here (not close enough to NC to drive there for an in-person purchase, though I did think about it for a couple of minutes
). But he ultimately decided not to since he just bought a new car. I lost out, but at least another TB'er got it.

Yeah, I don't understand the problems either.
All you need is an account number and a couple other codes (IBAN/SWIFT...) and that works for any country I ever sent money to. In fact I can do it online from my bank's website or an app on my phone.
Does a service like Transferwise work with accounts in the US?
It's dead easy to set up and the fees are lower than any bank as far as I can tell. You still need all the codes for the recipient's account/bank, 'though, but that's not hard to obtain: ask the recipient to provide them.

I wouldn't say the BB2 lacks mids... it's just that it's very accurate reproduction, tending to reference monitor clarity mids, which doesn't have any coloration to warm up those mids like a 10" w/ no tweeter does. So, you have to either be clean with your playing, or EQ it a little to smooth out those mid frequencies. I tend to cut the mids a bit with it, with most basses, using a MBF800. The MBF800 is also bright inherently so I do indeed dial all that down a notch. But the BB2 allows you to get detailed sonic content that can be very useful in cutting a mix and just richness of tone , or dialed out when you don't want it.
One10 is great, but I have never tried to pair it with the BB2. I did pair it with the Super Midget once, and it was okay... not a fair test because the room itself is notoriously difficult sound-wise.
The Super Midget makes a great compliment to the BB2 in a stack, that works very well. Using an SM as the companion to the BB2 also works well because it gives you more options, and using just the small SM for some gigs is very practical, but scalable to stack.

When's that darned switchable 4ohm/12ohm Two10 supposed to be available?
I owned the VT Bass 500 and played it through my One10 and SM cabs. I particularly liked the tube tone emulation of the VT Bass 500, so much that I sold the VT Bass and went in an all-tube amps direction
That then resulted in my selling my SM in favor of a second One10, as I think tube amps really shine through Alex's 10" cabs.I too am awaiting this. I want to order Two 10 but with the switching option. Might have to just ask for it even though it is not listed. No doubt it will cost a bit more.
I dont know how you'd have to set up the wiring to make it work... might be tricky to have a workable cab that can be switched over with a 2-position switch. But then, that's whay he is Alex, and I am not. Was kind of hoping that might be more to the fore of their new designs. I know I probably wont buy either the 4 or 12 ohm model and will just sit it out instead, but would almost certainly buy a switchable Two10. It would be a great service to those of us who have a Four10 but sometimes need smaller than that, and sometimes bigger.
