Manufacturing 2 different speakers would be prohibitively expensive when all you need to do is use an LPF to tailor the signal to one of the speakers achieve this end result.

Very possible. And someone else mentioned possibly done via the crossover. All of these make sense. It doesn't matter much to me because my BF cabs have the 12" drivers

I did an outdoor gig last night with my BTII and my Ag700 and man that rig was so awesome. I can not believe the volume that comes out of that thing. I was lovin it. I have not enjoyed my rig in a long time but I am really enjoying it now. My new bass is really killing it too.

Here's a question for you double duty bass players that also play guitar:
Have you used your Barefaced cabs with 10s or 12s as an extension cab for guitar. Does the flat response work OK?

Although this is from the One10 page, I think it applies. Both drivers appear identical in my Two10.

I also remember discussions whether 2 x One10's would be brighter than a single Two10, due to the lowpass filter on one side of the Two10. I don't know that anyone has measured that yet (Edit: but of course it's done this way to increase dispersion when horizontal, and ultimately I plan on getting a second cab!).

I still own a guitar or two. I've run the BB2 with them, and they sounded fine. Add in an Omnicab and I think you could shape things pretty nicely. Otherwise, just turn down the compression driver for distortion and have at it.

Darn, I was hoping you'd sell me yours! I've got a BTII and a SM and love them dearly. But of course now I must have a BF 10 cab as well!

I don't think that is accurate

This video is not evidence of what you seem to be claiming. Reference the 4:00 to 4:30 section where he talks about it... he only says that high end comes out of one, but not the other. All of us here seems to be in agreement on this. WHY is the question.

He never says the drivers themselves are different from one another--- only that one speaker has full range coming out of it, while the other doesn't have the high end coming out of it. As has been said a few times here, one way that this could be-- without the actual drivers being physically different from each other-- would be as others including me have said-- a LPF for one sid, for example

So in short, what you're putting forward as evidence that there are two physically different 10" drivers made by BF and used in their cabs, just doesn't support what you're trying to infer from it. If I am not correct, perhaps you could point me to the part in this video where he says there are two distinct, different speakers in there.

In other words...'dustcap designed for beaming instead of diffusion'.

It's not a separate driver as others have assumed.

So what's the technology that allows diffusion of high frequencies, (edit: other than splitting the arrays). From what I've read, high frequencies tend to beam (I'm not well read on this!).

Perhaps. But it seems like the ones doing the treble have the concentric midrange driver, while the other do not. I suspect the drivers are identical but only one has the midrange dome and doesn't. I would look for the review from Tom Bowlus on the Two10, he should answer the question. @tombowlus

Yes, my understanding is that all of the 10" equipped cabs currently in the lineup use the same drivers.

By lowpassing one side of the cab's drivers, it eradicates the combfiltering of the highs that causes the highs and upper mids to beam and not disperse well. So managing the drivers in this way is the very thing that causes the cab to disperse better than other cabs with the same generic driver arrangement.

And my One 10 did not have a dust cap like that, it was rounded like normal. I believe it was labeled a Retro 10 though so it must have changed with the name.

I have a question about hiss from tweeter/cab/amp/bass whatever... I noticed that when I turn up my amp it's always a hiss. It's quiet when I turn down the tweeter (90% of hiss dissapear) but when I just turn it up a little bit the hiss is starting. Of course there's no problem when we play in band but when you practice and your amp hiss louder than sound produced by speaker it's sth wrong imo. Or just any cab/amp hiss and this is normal ? I found that when I just plug into mixer and play on PA system on the rehearsal my bass doesn't hiss like on my bass rig or combo. So what's wrong with those amps/cabs ? Does every cab/amp hiss or it's just a matter of "Made in China" components or what ? I think that good amp/cab/combo whatever can reproduce sound without hiss or buzz which sounds like a mechanical issue orshielding issue or cheap parts thing, etc. ... I want to acheive clean (not "glass" but just clean, versatile) sound and that kind of issues destroy it.

This is similar to my first experience with Greenboy cabs. Transparent cabs are transparent. It makes noise because your amp is noisy.

So how to reduce or get rid of this awful noise then ? New amp ? Some improvements in electronics ? New tubes ? Which one then ? I use Ampegs right now but I want to sell it and find sth right finally...

It's part of the hunt. I found my Demeter VTBP M 800D is pretty quiet. I've also found that I don't always crank the compression driver in my BB2 as much as I eq more treble when I want it. I suppose EQ can help compensate. I don't have your combination of gear, so I'd mostly be guessing. Start with the simplest signal chain you can and see what your baseline is (bass > amp > cab). There's a chance a new amp is the only way to get things closer to silent when cranking the compression driver. The key questions are how important silent operation is, and what lengths you'll go to get it.
