I can't see me ever getting rid of my much loved tube heads, but what has happened is a major mind shift whereby the Mesa 800+ will be getting stage time in its own right rather than as a backup and practice amp. Part of this may be a natural synchronicity of the Mesa with the Four 10 as I was not so impressed with my TC Classic 450 into the BF.

I'm guessing you have the 8 ohm Four10? Have you tested the overall volume that you can achieve with the D800 vs using one of your more powerful tube heads? Or do you find you have a good amount of headroom where you'd never need the output capability if you are running the head at the 400W into 8 ohms?

My idea of what loud is when your ears will bleed so earplugs are definitely needed, lol.

I dig the size and weight of the Four10 but the unavailability of a 4ohm resistance has me directed towards the Six10.

Yes, I have the 8 ohm Four 10. Frankly I am not sure whether I would notice a big difference if it was 4 ohms and the 800+ was delivering 800 watts into it - it seems to be a pretty efficient cab. When I linked my two One tens in series to make a Two 10, then combined it with the Four 10 to make a Six 10 I honestly cannot say it was a huge difference. I think the Four 10 (in fact all the 10s) is so damned efficient that you don't really need any more. People are gigging in rock bands with a single Two 10 and have no complaints about being heard. I "think" the 800+ will go just as loud as my Super Bassman before you start feeling that the speaker is uncomfortable. Try not to judge the Barefaced 10s by traditional standards where you had to have an 810 for anything super loud - they are a new breed of speaker IMO.

I've knocked things off the wall upstairs at my singers house with my Four10 at 8 ohms and a Quilter Big Block 800. I'd have no issues completely burying any of the drummers I've played with if I turn the master above that, and it was maybe a third of the way up. I think the Quilter puts out 400 watts at 8ohms as well. I can't imagine ever needing a bigger cabinet than that and I love being loud.

400W at 8 ohms into my BB2, or Four10, is plenty loud. 800W at 4 ohms into 2 cabs wouldn't be appreciably louder in any practical sense (as Tim kinda alluded to). Kinda felt like my TH350 (175W @ 8 ohms) had a little trouble keeping up filling a medium-big room from stage with a single BB2, but that's not a volume thing or cab thing-- just not enough amp for adequate headroom. Same room and cab with a GKMBF800-- more than enough.

I may be misunderstanding something...

if

#1 is single BB2, 8ohm, 400W amp

and

#2 is two BB2, 4ohm, 800W amp

You *will* notice a clear difference on the #2 being louder.

So... I am sure I am missing something but I can't see it in the previous posts... :bag:

Got an email with shipping information for my Super Compact, earlier than I expected which is a nice surprise!

When I track the shipment on FedEx's website there is a link for something called "Clearance Detail" which brings me to a new screen asking for a house bill number? Is this anything I need to input here to avoid delays, or is this nothing to worry about?

It's listed down below the tracking updates, where there are notes on the delivery dates and shipping dimensions. I just noticed that the section for the clearance detail is a clickable link, so I'm wondering if there is anything I have to do here. From what I've gathered most orders arrive without any issue and then you are hit with an import bill a few weeks later.

If anyone is considering a new cab, they should make a move soon. Prices are going up.

February 2018 update - unavoidable price increases but production moving fast!
Short lead times on almost everything! We're having to put our prices up but you've got until the end of February before they change. We're not sure how much the increase will be but considering we're selling more cabs than ever yet not finding ourselves in a terribly financially comfortable situation, I think we have to be honest about how much they cost us to make and to provide the service we do. And of course exchange rate fluctuations, they're a challenge for a small international company like Barefaced. We've been doing some detailed analysis of production costs and once they're finished we'll be announcing the new prices. Hopefully if you speak to any Barefaced owner they'll confirm that our cabs represent excellent real value as opposed to low cost, and that will continue!

Sure you hate to see price increases, but they are inevitable. Since they do sell a very high end and very high quality product, hopefully the price increase won't turn people off and affect sales.

Also, it's good to see that they're selling more cabs than ever.
