Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

Quick bit of advice. I've got a line on a secondhand Tecamp Puma 900 or a GK MB800. I like both amps a lot and have used both in the past.

I'm using a One10 with a GK MB Fusion 500. It's fine and I like the clean GK sound; I don't use the drive/overdriven sound. I got the Fusion because it was secondhand and cheap. Plus I like GK. Lol

I'm planning to build a 12" cab in the near future, and it will benefit (a little) from the extra power of a bigger amp.

I'd like to sell my current head and use either the Tecamp Puma 900 or the GK MB 800 to be able to power individually the One10 setup or the new 12" cab.

Will the One10 be able to safely take the extra power (500W) if I am careful with it? And does anyone have a preference for GK or the Tecamp with the One10?

Thanks again.

As for extra power I successfully use my One10 with Quilter BB800.

Thd Barefaced web site says that the One10 is safe up to about 500W if you're using a clean tone. I haven't put that much power into mine, but it's taken a GK MB200 and MB500 and Genzler Magellan 350 and had no problem. It also seems to sound even better as you start putting some power into it. It's an impressive little cabinet.

just wanted to share the best rig I have ever had!

Ordered my Two 10s on the first and they said 3 - 6 weeks. Since it is now 3 weeks I can't help but start the big countdown. No idea what the current delivery time is but I am sure it will be worth the wait. On a different tack, I am considering an Aguilar DB 751 - has anyone tried this with Barefaced tens?

I ordered my Two10s on April 4 with. 3-6 week window and it delivered April 18. Not bad at all.

So excited to crack this open on Friday's gig

Thanks for that, not too sure how I should feel since I ordered mine before you and am still waiting after 3 weeks and you received yours within a fortnight. Very happy for you, anyway. I thought they would process them in the order that they were received, but mine was a steel grille and maybe yours was cloth so that could be a point of difference in the manufacturing process. Anyway, I am resigned to being (im?)patient and know that in the end it will be well worth the wait.

I can't imagine that the Aggie DB 751/Barefaced combo would sound anything less than incredible

Well, I agree. Based on the fact that every head I have tried with my Four 10 has sounded great I have gone ahead and bought an Aguilar DB751. Should arrive by the weekend with any luck. When the Two 10s arrives I will sit it on the Four 10 and the combo should make some sweet sounds. I will be interested to see how it compares with the Orange AD200/Barefaced combination.

I'll be interested to hear your report on the DB751 with Barefaced cabs. I am sure it can't be terrible.

Thanks everyone. I'll get the GK MB800 as I already know I like the GK sound/EQ. I'll use it carefully...

I didn't chime in earlier because I don't have any experience with the other amp you asked about, the Tecamp Puma 900 and thus couldn't give you a comparison, but I use an MB Fusion 800 with my 10's (Two10, Four10) and really like the tone. I never use distortion-- strictly clean tone for me-- so the tubes for me give warmth, not grit etc. I prefer the tube pre- to the straight MB sound (which I experience through my MB200). I haven't used the MB Fusion 500 but I'd bet the tone is quite similar to the MBF800 (people tell me there's SOME difference).

I don't often use my GK MBF800 with the One10 since it seems to me to be overkill, but I do enjoy the MB200 through it. I don't think you'd get a noticeable volume difference from the MBF500 (using an MBF800 or Mb800). If I am cranking it loud enough to use those extra watts, I am going to add another cab or a different, larger one, instead of the One10. Though the One10 does handle quite a bit. I just prefer the sound of several drivers moving a little rather than one moving a lot. If you like clean tone, IMO you'd be better served getting a second One10 (or a Two10s which you could use with your One10 to make a Three10 when desired) which would give you more volume and better clarity (IMO).

That is going to be awesome. I might feel the rumble from here!
