Well. With a good ear and EQ/sim you can tweak the 12" cabs to approximate the 10" cabs more easily than trying to go the other way. Being able to defeat the compression driver is easier than trying to create one that isn't there. If you're running much fuzz/distortion though, you'll likely not run the compression driver.

With a Broughton HPF/LPF, you can set the frequency range you want to work within for any cab. Full range when you need it or less when you don't. :thumbsup:

That is true, this may sound silly but half the reason for my confliction is that I find the two 10s to be the sexiest looking cab I've seen in some time. Especially with options for a colored baffle but I suppose with the right color choice on the 12 series my aesthetic needs would be well satisfied.

@Rooibos99 I have been reading along with what you're looking for. I also own a BB2 and I'm honestly on the fence right now for selling it as I'm just in love with BF 10's, they're the best 10's in the business. For what you're looking for I'd still lean to BF 12's just for the sheer flexibility that they can provide you. With some EQ tweaking you can get close to the 10's. I'm just hard pressed right now to find a way to incorporate the BB2 with my setup as the Two10s covers 80% of my gigs. The BB2 is so good I don't want to part with it yet. The BT would be a beast for what you're doing especially if you're occasionally using a drum machine.

Cheers mate, how loud do you feel the BB2 is in a gig setting? Also whats the harm with having it as a backup cab? I would imagine if you found a cheap power amp you could even run it as your own personal PA if you ever play gigs without PA support, then you've got a kick ass back up ready to go when you need some extra volume. If only I could play with these two cabs in person first, that added flexibility of the BB2 is nothing to scoff at its just figuring out how much of that I really need for bass loops. Granted I use a lot of harmonics in my loops but those should sound wonderful still within the two 10s frequency range.

About 5 months ago I used the BB2 at this same venue with the D800+, before I got the WD800 and Two10s. The BB2 is louder to me standing on top of it but the dispersion is what's part of the magic of the BB2. With no PA support it fills the room with a fullness like no other cab I've ever used before and it doesn't even break a sweat when pushed. The Two10s is very comparable to the dispersion of the BB2, it's just a tonal difference.

For practicing at home I'll sometimes plug my phone into the aux in of the WD and playing music through the Two10s isn't so great as it's not designed for that anyway. Now that into the BB2 is on par with any PA speaker. It's crystal clear and can get loud, plus if you play with the crossover you can really hear the difference of the slightest adjustment. If I had a need I'd consider buying a second BB2 and a poweramp to use as a PA like @monsterthompson does, they sound that good for full range and it can go deep too.

I started with 12's (2 x SC's) and moved to 10's (2 x Two10's). Now I'm back with 12's (SC + Super Midget). They all sound great but for most gigs these days I'm coming off the fence on the side of the 12's.

Who knows, I don't trust my judgement so I'm not selling the 10's just in case I change my mind again!

I play in a latin/gypsy band, a jazz trio (with upright bass), a country band, a 50s/60s rock n roll band and a a blues rock band. I had two BF 1x10s and sold them in favour of BF Super Midgets but soon went back to three BF 1x10s (2.67ohm load). Now I am happy, I doubt I will ever part with these. I run a wireless, and the 10s dont seem loud on stage but out in the audience they are hitting it! Just my experience.

For a number of years I've been keeping my preamp on my bass set flat because previous cabinets would fart out when boosting lows or highs became too brittle. That's with my amp set flat.
Only thing I've got to say is work that eq on your amp and your bass (talking active basses here).
I play through a d800 and have a DG B3K, HPF and Aggie TLC on my pedalboard.

I thought the cabs (2 four10's) sounded great and tons of headroom. Last nights rehearsal I boosted the amps bass knob a little and dimed the bass and treble on the amp and holy #%^@!!! That's what I'm talking about!! These 10's dont even need an HPF. Its plenty loud along with a 412 slinging guitar player and heavy handed drummer and there is basically no cone excursion.

These cabs are keepers!!

The D800 has a HPF fixed at 30Hz (IIRC).

Just picked up a used Super Compact in excellent condition from a fellow Canadian TB member. Really looking forward to checking it out. In the meantime, can anyone recommend an aftermarket cover or carrying bag? I know Barefaced sells one, but it costs a bit more than I'd like to spend right now.

I got the Barefaced cover with my new Super Compact, then I bought a used SC and got a cover for it from Tuki:
Barefaced Bass Super Compact Cabinet - handle side up - Padded Cover

It's really great but I kinda prefer the barefaced cover as it fits better. It costs more for a reason, as all of the 'bends' are stitched so it stays perfectly square and fits better. The Tuki is made more like a 'wraparound' with only the edges stitched and it tends to pooch out and does not fit as perfectly, but it's not a huge difference. The Tuki is 100% fine, I just prefer the Barefaced cover.

If none of that makes sense, I can get some pictures to show what I'm talking about.

I have a Tuki for my BB2 and the BF for the One10 and Two10s. Either works for me, I had the One10 first without a cover and when I ordered the Two10s I had them throw a cover for the One10 into the shipment. Significantly less money for the cover, that international shipping cost is a killer. Glad I was able to save some $$ that way.

Personally I like that you can have either a velcro bottom strap or cover all sides covered with Tuki but not a deal breaker at all.
