Yes, on reflection this was my conclusion too. For some reason the bass was set higher than usual on both the guitar and the amp. Thanks for the input, I too normally only use a touch on the Sadowsky preamp or at times use the passive option.My guess is the BB's didn't hiccup, the Sadowsky preamp pushed the amp past its limit, and you heard the amp try to clip the signal as it was pushed to the cab (safety feature). As you probably know, Sadowsky basses are super hot with the bass and treble rolled completely off. Personally, on my Sadowsky basses I can't turn either past what would be 2 of 10 before it's too much...
