Yes, on reflection this was my conclusion too. For some reason the bass was set higher than usual on both the guitar and the amp. Thanks for the input, I too normally only use a touch on the Sadowsky preamp or at times use the passive option.

There aren't many bass-suited frfr cabs in mass production. Maybe something like greenboy? I'd imagine there are others out there, but it isn't a large market segment. I'd look for PA/FRFR cabs that are light and have extended low end. Uniqueness of the BB3/BT3 is how light and powerful they are. The amount of low end these can produce is fantastic - you won't find many cabs that are FRFR with the low end capabilities similar to the BB3/BT3. The 12XN drivers are pretty amazing.

The horn and crossover in the bb3's are awesome. (The 12xn drivers are amazing too!!) I haven't tried other frfr cabs with bass, but I'm sold on the BB3s after having them for a couple months.

I've heard great things about the Mesa cabs, but according to the spec sheet, they don't extend down very low. Fine for a 4 string, but as a 5 string player my low notes won't have the same heft.

This rig is a delight. And I've played everything from Cetek-Gauss to Guild Hartke to SVTs and walls with Black Widows. Ran a Sadowsky, An MTD USA, a couple of Dingwalls and the NBD G&L SB-2T…all are better basses because of the rig. Shout-out to Jason at FretNation and, of course, our new favorite Brit - Alex at Barefaced!

Me too! And I'm a little confused because my order is from June, but the website says they are now building orders from July and I haven't received a shipping notification. It does note a component shortage is delaying the completion of some builds, but it explicitly says that the shortage does not affect the BB3.

They are very responsive...just email them.
My order was placed June 14th, they shipped on Monday and arrived via DHL yesterday...if that helps.

The high end response will most likely be vastly different on those cabs. I haven't pumped music through a subway cab, but the horn on them seems to be the typical bass cab horn that adds high end sheen and clank, but isn't too musical. The horn on the BB3s sound better than most PA speakers for full-range use, and as a unit, they sound better than general purpose PA speakers. A fairer comparison may be the super twin instead of the big twin. Doesn't have a tweeter - but I always turn off or disconnect the cheap "clank-o-matics" on most bass cabs. I run the BB3 horns full though - they sound so good..

Power to weight is impressive and I know the BB3 has a big low end, but does it have that crisp percussive punch if driven with a good amount of power and proper EQ?
