Not sure about the current conventional wisdom. I generally stack them vertically to get the mid-high driver on the upper cabinet up higher and have sometimes stacked them horizontally (usually when we're in a smaller place and an owner or manager seems to be concerned about volume - they look smaller and presumably less imposing when horizontal ).

I remember seeing the flipped configuration with fEarful and fEarless cabs in the past. But my recollection is that Greenboy would optionally build one as the top cabinet in a flipped configuration so that they could be stacked as you described.

This is complete naivete on my part but, since the only stupid question is the one that doesn't get asked, I'll ask. Is there any risk of damage to a cabinet by placing it upside down? Like I said, I never thought about it before and have no idea if doing that can have any bad consequences. Maybe @alexclaber could chime in on that one?

Logically, I would conclude the round drivers are just as securely held by the screws in any position, as any position would be identical in pressure holding the drivers against the baffle. But that's just Ukiah-logic speaking. Maybe something different over the pond?

Not an unreasonable way to look at it. If Alex doesn't see any problem, I'll try it out at our next gig where I use both cabinets (the next place we play is pretty small and I usually only use one cabinet there - one BB2 is plenty!).

Since the BB3 seems to have the tweeter and woofer centered, flipping one upside down shouldn't result in any bad effects brought on by not having vertical alignment. I don't know if you benefit from putting the tweeters closer together like that though.

I'm with lala on this. I have a Rumble 500 combo, and I've been known to put my Barefaced One10 on top or next to it when I want a bit more oomph and the full 500 watts out of the amp. For sure the speaker is not in the same plane as the built in combo speakers. Sometimes I point it in a slightly different direction than the combo so it can be a monitor of sorts. I've never had a music pal in the audience say they experienced standing waves, drop outs, lost frequencies, or anything like that! It has always sounded good to me, as well as when I lend my rig to someone else playing that night.

With a BB2, it may not matter. With the BB3, the cooling system for the speaker is designed to be in effect when the cab is rightside-up. It won't work the same way upside down.

It started last year. Cancer returned in my right calf and had to have below the knee amputation. I got two trace Elliot 1X10 cabs as I needed very light
to carry them one at a time while holding onto the railing in front of my house, and loading, unloading. This all happened when I got my prosthetic four months
later. The TE cabs worked fine for me, but kept reading how low and loud Barefaced cabs go. I ended up getting a One10 and a One10T a few months ago, which are crazy
loud and low for their size. The TE cabs will be sold soon. Band members and the audience loves them as much as I do. Well, almost.
I wanted the baffles painted Cyan, but decided a bit too late, as the cabs were finished and shipped early. Not a big deal. I did get two covers as well.

The thing that stands out for me (Remembering back) is reading that the Supertwin could keep with an 8X10. The size and weight were the other factors. I loved my Supertwin and played a couple of gigs with it. It really sounded great and was plenty loud without pushing it even a little bit.

I could have been happy forever with the Supertwin but when I saw the Big Twin 3, I knew I had to have one. The ST was in as new condition with very low hours so I sold it for a good price and got the BT3.

None of my Gear is "Plug and play" as people say. I have to work at getting "My' tone but I don't mind. I create Patches within my Boss GT1000-Core for each bass and run it mostly through a Mesa Subway TT-800. The BT3 is pretty good at putting out what I put into it.

I sometimes wonder if I should have gone for a Mesa Subway 2X15 which I believe would be more "Plug and Play". Meaning that I think it would be a more colored cabinet. But I am getting such great tones from my Rig. I also sometimes think I should have gone with a Mesa WD-800. I feel that it may be more plug & play than the TT-800 but again, it's worth the effort for how great the TT-800 sounds when Dialed in.

When I want a more simple rig/Load in, I use my Orange Terror V2 500 Bass amp with the Big Twin 3. That is a truly glorious experience. The Terror sounds fantastic and is more than loud enough for even outdoor gigs.

All that said, I have no regrets for buying the BT3. If I got a Mesa SW 2X15, I am sure I would love it as much as the Barefaced. Maybe someday I'll get one to see what all the hype is about.

@alexclaber do you or anyone else here know what the "-3dB frequency response" is for these cabs?

The quoted frequency response is generally at 10dB down from flat... 10 dB down is 1/10th the power, so using the example of the 410 that has a claimed 25Hz response, the mid band response will be 10 times more audio power than 25Hz. The question to ask is what's the -3dB frequency response and it should be measured rather than claimed.

I'm using a Euphonic Audio iAMP Classic or a Genzler Magellan 800. The amp is gonna be your personal choice as every bassist has an ear for different tones. Ampeg SVT is always a safe bet for rock and old school tones. Aguilar and Darkglass are jazzy and more metal (respectively). I've always had a soft spot for Gallien-Krueger, the higher end models, but that's a Will Lee influence.

I've been repeatedly recommended GK. Also one person recommended me the Magellan too.

I'm curious about the Fusion 1200S and Legacy 1200. Legacy is on sale in the forums…
