Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

( just to clear the air in here a little :D )

Anyone had any issues with the upper mids on the 12XN cabs sounding more "harsh" than what you'd expect compared to reference audio devices? I just got my BB3 and SM two weeks ago and every time I listen through my studio monitors or IEMs with my amp DI and then listen to the cabs I just can't seem to quite get it to sound right.

I bought the BB3 because I thought it would really just sound like a big reference speaker like it has been talked about so regularly. Any tips or suggestions would be great! I'm running a Trickfish Bullhead 1k, which is supposed to be pretty even of a head. Has lots of EQ options as well if there are any suggestions there.

Where do you have the crossover set?

I have a question for the Big Twin 3 users:

What cab(s) did you previously use and how does the overall volume compare?

I am currently using two very high quality 1x12 cabinets but am considering going to a single "one cab that can do it all" system.
I'd appreciate any insight users could offer.

They do take a while to burn in and free up. Wait till you have cranked them up on a couple of gigs.

I tried that head on several high end cabs and never liked it. I'd give up on the head before the cabs.

If you're running the HF control at max then you're boosting the treble a fair bit. Also, if you position your ears absolutely on-axis with the 12XN then you'll hear its rising response on-axis - that was chosen to get the flattest possible sound in the room, because hardly anyone's ears are absolutely on-axis, so the power response is really even.
