Official Barefaced Bass Cab Club

This was exactly my experience. I had forgotten all about the crossover control, and had left it cranked from day one. I wondered why I was having a hard time taming the harshness with my bass and amp controls... then one day I was setting up for a gig, and as I was pugging my amp into the cab, I saw that control, and felt like an idiot for forgetting about it. I dialed it back to about 50%, and all my problems went away. It's been sounding great, and not harsh at all, ever since.

Isn't it great when a simple fix solves the issue? I discovered if I plug my amp in, it works 100% better. lol

My only head/Barefaced combos I didn't get along with:
1. Quilter. That amp was not to my liking. Not enough top end and it made every distortion pedal sound toothless.
2. Jule Monique pre with a rack power amp and a SC. I couldn't get the mids EQ'd to a setting that worked for me. It was a lot of honk.

This is why I ask people to email us rather than ask other owners. Both those amps/rigs are popular with Barefaced owners. For every bassist there's a unique player-bass-pedals-amp-cab-(desired tone/loudness in band) combination. Change more than one variable and unless you've got a strange brain like mine who's been obsessing over this stuff for a few decades (and doing it professionally for 15 years) then the chance of someone else's recommendation being correct is not that high!

Yes.

I happen to have a Quilter BB800 and a Jule Monique preamp, and I love them both with my One10 and my Super Compact. But I probably don't play the same genre of music as monsterthompson, and/or don't have the same taste.

Been on here for a bit and realized I haven't shared any pics of my Barefaced rigs. After having used so many differing combinations of amps, preamps, and cabs for the last 35 years, these current setups suit me right. Love my Barefaced cabs for many reasons. Sound/power/weight ratio is the perfect balance for any of my rigs from a modeling setup with an FM9 to this Bergantino Forte HP2 to a slaved power amp with a Noble pre. Can't complain one bit.

That's some droolworthy gear you've got there!

Woo! That's a smokin hot rig! And the others you mentioned.

I've only ever used my TH500/ST and as a power slave w the Noble. And of course…Wal. Why not?View attachment 5335768

Sweet rig! I used to use the TH500/Noble slave setup and then the TH just wasn't reliable for me. The pre on mine was in need of service and after sending it back to them twice with no resolve, I swore off Aguilar for good. Was slaving a Darkglass M900 for a while then the GK MB800. Both were fine but I was looking for something with more power for the BT3 but could still run through the BB3 if I wanted the smaller single 12 with tweeter. The HP2 covers both speakers nicely since it puts out 1200w at 4ohms and 600w at 8ohms. Perfect for both of those cabs used separately. I have been blown away with both the Barefaced cabs and the Berg. Sounds incredible with the smallest of tweaks with any of my basses. Oodles of power with no compromise on sound. I'm going to run the Noble thru it after I have Jack go over it and tune it up. The Noble just needs a going over with the hours I've put on it. LOVE the Noble too though!

Oh...and that Wal... NOICE!!!

sorry to hear about the TH. I'm worried a lil bit now that they aren't their own company anymore and the Daves are gone. I'm very much considering that Berg head. I know it's a beautiful pre but always have to try the Noble because… you know..NOBLE.
