Hello, I am thinking of getting a barefaced four 10 but not sure whether to get a tweeter with it or not.
I have a super compact and have found I need the tweeter with that but I’ve read the 10cr speakers go higher treble wise and the 12 inch speakers are more mellow.
I don’t really play slap bass but quite often use a pick so need a little bit of treble but not loads.
My amp is an Orange ad200b and bass is a Nash P bass.

It's really a matter of taste, I really don't think 10CRs need a tweeter but if you have any doubts, take the tweeter - you can always turn it off, it's preferable than to buy the cab without it and then regret it.

I have run a four 10 and Orange AD200 since the four 10 first came out. P bass or jazz usually. Never ever felt the need for a tweeter. Great combo.

I’ve had a two10 and four10, now I have a three10. I strongly prefer them with tweeter. It may not matter for some people, but it does for me.

I have a One10T and a One10. I don't feel the need for a tweeter, but it wouldn't hurt to get a cab with a tweeter
in it, so there are no regrets.

I have a Four10 (4 ohm version) and kick myself for not opting for the tweeter just for the added flexibility. According to Alex, retrofitting a tweeter is virtually impossible.

On its own and at home, the Four10 does in my opinion sound a touch muted in the treble compared to other cabs I’ve used. This includes a sealed, non-tweeter cab I own. But I reckon that slightly rolled-off top end contributes to the overall strength of the Four10. It delivers deep, punchy bass and mids which, on stage in the mix, has incredible authority and clarity. I never feel like I’m missing any frequencies. The tone is amazing and there’s heaps of space for the other instruments. I’ve had mine for about a year and actually think it’s transformed the sound of my band because there’s more clarity across the board. And the bass tone is excellent.

Having said all that great stuff about my non-tweeter Four10 I suggest opting for the tweeter version just to be sure.

I could have written the same of my SuperTwin. The stage sound is fantastic and the overall mix has excellent separation between instruments. It’s fun to hear clips from the audience that confirm my impressions from the stage. I wonder if the high end roll off contributes to the efficiency? I don’t use much power to generate plenty of depth and detail.

I only have a few gigs on my 310 no T and I run more high end on the amp for sure. For more than the BB3 of course, but I’m satisfied with the CR10A highs. My SP1 tone knob as almost always down half way for more. With the high switch on the TT800 on, I’m getting everything I need for the material I play. However, that material doesn’t demand tons for treble. Also, getting a mic on the cab is easy on the no T as I don’t have to capture a tweeter. I researched everything I could on the no T option before I pulled the order trigger. It’s working great for me

Three 10's with a tweeter and taller profile sounds ideal for a single cab to handle most gigs. Enough volume and presence but still easy to move.

I’d say the same thing if the 4x10 had a 19” width version. I’ve found they are easier to move and fit better in small stages.

Can anyone offer a direct comparison between the Super Twin (no tweeter) and Big Twin 3? I currently own a ST and like it quite a bit, but I've been researching the BT recently and think I'd prefer it. How much do you actually gain from the bigger, more expensive cab?

As a reference my favorite all time cabs were a pair of Fearless 115s. By comparison the ST seems a little lacking in low end "bloom" even when boosting lows. It feels very tight and controlled which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but there are times when I want more depth particularly when using octaver and/or synth effects. I also feel that the Super Twin doesn't project as well ada single F115 which has been wondering about mid drivers/tweeters and crossovers. It's not that I really require more high end than the ST puts out but with the upgraded horn and crossover network in the BT it may provide a more "enveloping" sound for lack of a better description.

One of the Fearless cabs was almost always more than enough for any gig i ever did and even standing directly in front of it. I could hear everything evenly. That was with only the 3015lf and mid. I never used the tweeter on those cabs. I could eq it to sound any way I wanted and used amp/cab modeling frequently to amazing affect. I think the Big Baby/Big Twin are more what I'm looking for would love some real world comparisons if possible.

Obviously I could try and commission another Fearless build, but the options are extremely limited and the build time very long. Which has brought me to the Barefaced....

Interesting. My fav cab of all time is my F115. Fearless is what led me to look into BF as kind a fearless with a different business model. I’d tried a BT years ago for a bit and while it was super loud I didn’t like the tone as much as my F115( was surprised that it’s very polite did not have that huge low end and seemed to punch less). I’m not savvy in the ways of cab making so I have no way to ascribe numbers or values to this experience. I was thinking that maybe I’d just chosen the wrong BF and was looking at the ST or one of the 10” cabs to try next. I’d be interested to learn if you find a BF that is closer to the F115 magic. Or I might use one of my 3 wishes on a BF based on something like a 3015lf, that would be fun to try.

As a Super Twin player, my first thought about the Super 24 design and appearance is that it’s not a standalone cab. I’d want two in a stack. Then I watched the video and Alex said as much…with some interesting commentary about mixing drivers too! Fun video and I hope the move to the new shop goes well.

Btw, the P-bass with flats and the Cali76 sounded great.
