The 12s are designed to be "what you put in is what you get out" so I think you could EQ the 12s to sound like the 10s, but not the other way around.

If you like the 10s sound — a warm, rolled off vintagey vibe — a lot of people do, myself included — then you could short cut a lot of fiddling with EQ on the 12s and get that sound pretty easily just using BF 10s. If you prefer to have options or just don't want that BF 10 thing, then yeah 12s all the way. Plus the 12s handle a lot more power.

With that said, the 10s aren't a one trick pony. I've heard people say that about these cabs and similar from other manufacturers and I don't agree 100%. Yes, there's a baked in sound, but unless you are going for something super specific, super hi-fi and modern sounding, you can get plenty of different tones out of a BF 10 cab. I don't even have a tweeter in mine and I feel this way — I bet w/a tweeter you could get even more variety.

Honestly, I would rather get the voicing from my head than from the cab. I use a Subway TT-800 head with two barefaced BB3's. Modern tone? Use the subway channel... More gritty mid-forward vintage-ish tone? Use the Boogie Channel. I would much rather get my tone from my head than my cab - easier to get good tone live using a head's DI than relying on FOH to have a great mic. Just my opinion. And - the BB3's sound absolutely fantastic and handle gobs of power.

I'm coming around to this way of thinking too, but I already have a cab (One10) with a baked in sound that I really like. I also have a Mesa 1x15 that has a baked in sound but in a different direction and then a Revsound 210 that is the most neutral.

I bought them at different times with different needs, but if I had to do it all over again from scratch, I'd probably get the Revsound 2x10 again and either a second Rev 2x10 or a Rev 1x10.

I sold my 3 Barefaced 210 cabs recently. Firstly, I didn't need 6 10's as 2 or 4 handled everything I needed. I really liked gigging them for a few years, but recently started playing URB again during the early sets and the baked in sound didn't really work well for URB. I have moved on to much more neutral sounding cabs, but went with "Made in USA for multiple, personal reasons. However, for electric bass I think the Barefaced 10's sound great, are well made, and they have great disbursement.

I've got 3 RevSound 110's on order. Ordered them December 27th, hopefully I'll get them someday fairly soon. Although, the delay forced me to invest in a cab readily available. I bought a Mesa 115 and 112…that's been a revelation!!!

I think you're gonna like those Revs. There really is a lot of good gear to choose from. Can't go wrong with any of the manufacturers mentioned here.

The BB3's are my last cabs. We run a blend of ampless and amp'd gigs. Knowing I can get the same tone from the BB3's as I am putting out the DI is a huge plus. Light, loud and low... They do all three and don't break your back... I am glad I bought them well before the tariff nonsense though... I think 2 BB3s w/ silver cloth, the top hat mod, covers and a hoodie was only like $2200 or something to my door in the US, and, DHL didn't invoice me for duties or any of that crap. Seems like bass cabs were a better investment than stocks! 🙃

So a bit more pornography from the initial smoke test.

First comment I have is that this is an astonishingly loud cabinet. I remember testing a pair of Bergantino NV115s with a D800+ and getting the feeling that I had fundamentally made a dire miscalculation of my volume needs when I started hitting 7 or so on the volume knob. This happened almost immediately with the BD800 and the Six10. Amp settings are leftover from bass direct in just out of arms reach.

In other words, it's perfect! Still need to smoke test the board routing, program the midi, tweak the tones and set up the scenes before using it in anger this weekend at rehearsal.

My two barefaced SC cabs have been stuck in US customs for TWO WEEKS! I got all the signed import paperwork to Barefaced right when they needed it. Worried FedEx is gonna send them back to Barefaced. I waited 12 weeks for them to be made and now they're taking weeks to make it through the shipping process. I don't have this kind of patience- frustrating!

Yes, it's a bit more than their posted estimate which is normal… they get a lot of orders!

Unless something unusual comes up they don't usually communicate with you until it's ready to ship.

Ordered my Six10 on 27 Jan, received 18 May. Was pretty quiet in the middle, did reach out once to check in and get a fresh ETA and got word back quickly. Wouldn't worry just quite yet.

After a long break, I'll be back in the club soon with a pre-owned One10. I don't have an amp at the moment, and I'm curious as to what amps everyone is liking these days to pair with a single One10. So far, I'm considering the following:

GK MB200
Quilter Interbass (or possibly the Bass Block V803)
Mesa D-350

Anything else out there that I should consider? I don't use effects, but an onboard DI would be great.
