Official Carl Thompson basses club thread

Got to spend a few hours with Carl on Monday while I was picking up my new bass. It was a great experience and he put me to work as soon as i walked in the door.

I totally creeped on the photo of the necks looking to see if my name was on one of them.....don't feel alone Cosmic. Wood Art is right Nagarjuna....

I'm no stranger to the wait and the process (I still have the voicemail from Carl when one of my basses was ready), but this time it is different and each day feels like a week. It's always so exciting seeing new happy owners...and what's been coming out of the shop is just breathtaking. I just love seeing that they keep sending more magic out into the world...it's really exciting to think about all these people getting ahold of a dream (whether it's your first or your last...you don't just stumble into a Carl Thompson, although a lot can be said about how the instruments find the right owners). Come to think of it, the big difference was before there wasn't social media...there was the youtube stuff, but I didn't learn about that until later.

In any event...I'm still drooling over Rick's new bass. Cheers all!

No scam. Both my fodera was sold and the deal on CT finalizing with your friend. Thanks for forwarding. I was just got home from vacation and made sure the reverb adds my brother set up for me were ended. Thanks.

Is this a scam? I passed these details onto a close friend who has been looking for a CT. He said he worked out a deal w you but looks like you posted it on reverb also. Seems a little sketchy....?

Apologies. My buddy got all concerned. I thought maybe you got hacked since you have such great feedback here. Happy to see things working out!

I played that bass here in Osaka. It's at a shop where I frequent; a well-known chain of music stores, and I've known the staff long before they opened the bass shop.

The manager and I get along, but he knows they've been charging too much for basses. Here in Japan, Ken Smith, Sadowsky, Fodera, and the Holy Basses: Alembic, CT, Wal….all cost a fortune now: way over $10k regardless of being new or used.

The shop writes in the bass description that musicians that went to Carl's shop all said this bass was special: ain't they all, considering he doesn't make any the same….the price made me terrified of the order I placed with Carl last year. lol

On the bass: it is MARVELOUS. It plays very well, and sounds wonderful. I have never owned nor played a CT, but this made me happy knowing that I was 100% right in ordering one. I loved the detail, and the simplicity of controls: made TO PLAY ON, PERIOD. I don't think these or any of the other brands should be museum pieces, but I fell in love with CT basses after playing this.

The price is insane at 15-16k, but I see someone here buying it, just because CTs are rare now. Gorgeous bass but no way they cost THAT MUCH unless it were all ebony: an Alembic that is kinda tricked out costs that price, and as we know they have silver and other stuff to go along with that amazing build to explain the price.

Not taking anything away from the CT: amazing, BUT…that price better have a guaranteed lottery ticket along with it lol

Thank you for easing my anxiety by saying it's a dope smoker price….

But hey guys, fess up: NO ONE DISCUSSES HOW MUCH THEIR CT COSTS, DO YA? Lol

Mine cost less than that, more than most.

End of the day, a new CT from Carl is a pretty sound investment. I think you'll he happy with it.

Thank you. I have NO DOUBTS about how happy I'm going to be, especially after playing that bass! No thoughts of canceling have crossed my mind AT ALL.
I am more of of a fan now because of that bass, and were it priced to a level I wouldn't have to give my eye teeth for, I would have called Carl and asked his forgiveness, because I'd buy THAT one instead! Lol

A glorious bass: I was sold on Carl Thompson since early last year, after watching the vids on YouTube and reading your comments: thank you all.
