Also passed the two year since deposit mark back in December. Luckily I've been in an extensive training program at work the last two years to distract me. I don't even know what I'm going to do now that it's almost over.

Almost over? I hate to burst your bubble but I am kissing 4 years of waiting in about a month…that said, my wait should hopefully be ending this year as the shop reached out to me not too long ago about confirming my details and I did see a pic on carls stories within the year w a stack of wood w my name on it. I couldn't be more excited but I know patience is virtue and good things come to those who wait…and none of us are strangers to the wait.

Oh no not the wait almost being over, my training program. That's what I meant about lack of distraction while I wait to hear from the shop.

Congrats on getting word on yours though! I'm excited to see it develop!

4 YEARS?!

Amazing: I will just take things as they come and enjoy all the posts! Lol

Four years no pics updates ?

Do you ask for progress pics on your dinner at a Michelin star restaurant? You do if you don't wanna get fed. I have waited 4 yrs and I have waited 2 and I have gotten a call a week after being in the shop when someone turned down an instrument…when the bass is ready you'll get a call. Not sooner, not later. Other than that, let the crew do their thing.

Thinking about getting a Kelvin Daly. Is there any comparison to a CT bass at all? I've never played either.

Also, I'm heading to NYC. Is it possible to visit the CT shop and/or play one of his basses?

Kelvins Basses are incredible. He worked with Carl the longest. They may be the most creative looking and artistic, but at the end of the day, it feels just like a CT and has got it where it counts. (My next Bass will most likely be a Kelvin)

You can call/text Carl and ask to see if hes available for a shop visit but there is no gurantee till you talk to him. Also, you might be able to play a Bass if there is one ready but no gurantee. He doesnt just have extra Basses laying around to play with.

I'm on Kelvin's build list. Before I ordered, I visited his shop (in Brooklyn) and played some examples. I'd already owned a couple CTs so I knew how those felt. As Mike said, a Daly does feel like a CT but with its own aesthetics (and Mike is absolutely a CT authority). I happen to prefer what Kelvin is doing visually/artistically (his basses are as much sculpture as they are instruments) which is why I went in that direction with this build. Since you'll be in NYC, you should contact Kelvin in addition to Carl about a shop visit.

As a past owner of a CT, they are not Wal's. By that I mean Wal has proprietary electronics that are nearly impossible to reverse-engineer. Shape does not make tone.... So it seems perfectly logical that there are other basses that are similar.... without the extreme wait.

Thanks! I remember seeing it years ago and thinking, "if I ordered a fretless four string, it would be that." Then it was available a yearish ago and I couldn't pass it up. It makes me want to pick it up and practice, which is always a good thing. It already has a fretted twin so I'm looking to get a fretted "cousin" when my name comes up in the queue.
