So I recently acquired a 36" full frills and just put on new strings and did a basic set up, but I was looking at the neck from the body end and it's straight to about the 14th or 15th fret on both g and e sides and then bends back slightly and is straight to the headstock.
I've read about Carl angling his necks so the fretting hand is behind the playing hand but I'm not sure if what I'm describing is the result of that or if my neck needs straightening outside of what the truss rod can handle...
Any ideas?
I can't position the camera correctly unfortunately. It looks like a slight back bow at about the 14th/15th fret and then straight the rest of the wayHe does indeed angle his necks, but can you show some pictures of what you see?
IT'S HERE!!! MASSIVE thank you to Rich and Brian!!! These guys were like hounds while FedEx floundered this in transit.
This thing is literally a dream come true. First ever CT I have played and it lives up to expectations and more. It's so acoustically loud it's ridiculous. I've played acoustic bass guitars that are quieter than this is unplugged. It plays EFFORTLESSLY. Plugged in the sound is everything I want in a fretless. And it's a looker to boot.I'll get better pics when I'm not so busy playing that I lose daylight and after I pick up my new phone with a better camera. @cosmicevan it looks like we're CT twins!!
Indeed we are!!!! Welcome to the family also!!!
Mine had super light gauge strings on it when I got it and I was having a tough time bonding at first...I switched to my preferred gauge and I've hardly put the bass down since. I still need to snap some photos...will have to get on that![]()
Very cool CTs!!!Took some pictures of my instruments today...
Updates from Carl are the best!
Anybody know the current base rate for a full frills off the top of their head?
How serious I am depends on whether they're $10k or $20k, I don't want to waste his timeemail aaron if you are serious about buying an instrument.
You're not gonna pay that kind of money, trust me.How serious I am depends on whether they're $10k or $20k, I don't want to waste his time
