Interesting. I've never seen any specs for a Carvin 4-string with anything other than .75" (19mm) spacing at the bridge. Carvin only sells 4-string bridges that are 2.25" outside string to outside string. The Carvin web site doesn't list the B40 bridge specs anywhere I can find. The bridge looks identical to the SB4000 bridge, though, which is .75" spacing.

Somehow, I've got to think you've got a rare bass with different specs. That's pretty cool if it suits you well and is comfy! :)

Interesting... If you solo the piezo does it sound sort of like an acoustic electric?

I made a piccolo bass for a guy here in Pittsburgh, and it had a neck pup and a piezo bridge... VERY cool sounding, but it was a piccolo... I don't be useful in most situations, but when in more eclectic situations, I thought it would be cool...

Any insight there??

Yes - I was - it sold the other day. I am not much of a 5 player (yet - the SB may be changing that). 5ers previous to the Bongo were all 19mm spacing at the bridge. I just could not get used to the 17.5mm spacing on the EBMMs.

The SB neck is a touch thinner (board to back) and really fits my hand well. The Bongo had a painted neck back - which was OK but I like the feel of wood. Action - is lower and quicker on the SB. My guitarist said the other day, I was playing some amazing stuff at rehearsal - I attribute that to the feel and action of the SB being inspirational!

Electronics - I have found tones I like faster with the SB. Both have powerful electronics. I "grew up" playing Jazz basses - the SB gives me that feel plus that sound more than the Bongo. Explains why I just picked up an SB4000 too. Feel and sound - both great on these SBs.

I've come to the conclusion that there is a dead spot on my B-50... It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't middle "C"... I mean, who plays middle C, right?? (well, it's the 5th fret C on the G string... I think that's middle C...)

Anyhoo

Anybody have experience with the customer support at Carvin, and how they treat things like this?? It wasn't obvious in the first 10 days I had it...
