I have the radiused singles in my B25P (with the Bromberg pre), and the radiused humbucker in my fretless Icon 5P (with the Icon Pre). Both are awesome....Im not usually a fan of soapbars in general....

So should this guy lose the preamp he has in there for the Bromberg? I know the ideal is to match up the Bromberg pickups with the Bromberg pre but do think the RJ2s with his current pre might be worth a try first?
All I can say is that personally, I would only put the Bromberg Pre with the RAD-S pickups, and no others. The RAD-S's might work passive or with other pres, but the RAD-Singles and the Bromberg Pre are made for each other.
The RAD-H's do NOT work with the Bromberg, but sound fantastic w/the Icon Pre, IME. From experience I can tell you that as great as the pre sound w/RAD-S pickups, it is inversely awful with the RAD-H. I would be concerned that the Bromberg Pre would not sound right with his current pickups. That pre is designed for the Radiused Singles.
I'd try different pickups before I'd swap the pre...

I have a B24S with humbuckers and I like it. However, had I known that the humbuckers were not compatible with the Bromberg preamp, I would have gone with the RJ2 singles. I like the tones I get from my humbucker setup but there's always this nagging feeling in the back of my mind that makes me wonder how much cooler this thing will sound with the proper Bromberg set up.
These are my first Carvin with soapbar pickup. I'll replace them with some Barts which I'm a big fan of.
I put Bart CB series soapbars in my BB75, and love them. I did need to break out sandpaper to get off a bit of finish glop on the inside of the pickup cavity to get them to fit, though.
The pre-amp was change on the BB75 last month to a 4.5 a/p which really make the bass shine. I'm still going to change out the Carvin pre on the XB75 for the Bart 2 band Bass and Treble with A/P switch. No mid control because it can be done on the amp.

I'm considering swapping the pups and pre in my LB76. Just not digging the tones I'm currently getting. I wonder if the Delano MM pups are the same size? Those are the only ones I've found in the 6 string MM style..

I always like Barts on fretless because they have a dark tone. Six are going to be hard to get.
MEC makes them as well. IIRC they're actually significantly more expensive than Delano!
Today I replace just the preamp in the XB75 and what a big different in the tone. It a hole lot clearer then the Carvin which could have been defected. Well anyway I happy now with the 2 band Bart preamp.

So you kept the Carvin soapbars and ONLY replaced the pre with a 2 band Bart, right?
Curious, what's your control layout now? The original Carvin preamp had vol, blend, hi/low stack; mid/sweep stack. Do you now just have one working hi/low concentric stack? Or is it two separate knobs? What about the other knobs, will you just remove them?
Sorry for all the dopey questions but I'm toying with the idea of keeping the humbucker radius pickups on my B24S but maybe popping in a 3 band Bart pre with a 4 knob setup or the like. I think I have a pretty damn good bass but its just lacking something. Maybe your Bart preamp is the way to go.
Dude, that's nice! I have a blueburst Carvin as well, I love the color. I know what you mean about the contour. They really get all the angles just right. What's puzzling me, however, is your camera... it's taking pictures from the past! Freaking me out here, man! LOL
Control layout is simple, Vol ( A/P ), Bend, Treble and Bass. No mid pot. They do have one with the mid pot but don't need it with these pickup. I been using Bart's for years now and when I get a bass that suck in tone I'll replace the preamp first then the pickup next with Bart's.
Some basses no matter what you do sound crappy. If I sell the bass later I always include the original. Just remember that the cost of replace may be a lost when time to sell. Me I don't care, if I like the feel of the bass I'll take that chance.
