That's just the position the mid has always been in for the three tone models until the more recent mid with sweep preamps came along.

The HB2 humbucker was introduced in '02, so we know your bass is no older than '02. The stacked mid-range preamp came in around '07, I think, although the Carvin Museum doesn't have info past 2006. So, I'd say we are looking at a BB75 built between '02 and '07ish. :)

Your bass in an LB75.

To clarify, I don't really mean fretboard radius, I mean carve on the back of the asymetrical neck. If the BB76 has the same basic back carve as the BB75, I'm definitely up for a BB76. If the back carve is the same as an XB76, then I'll grab a used Roscoe Century Standard instead.

The back of the neck of the BB76 is the same as the XB76 and the LB76. It's not asymetrical. I have an LB76P and when I called Carvin to place my order, I asked for the asymetrical neck and was told that it was only available on the 5 strings.

I am REALLY loving my new/used BB75. The B string is just so great, and there is a really nice variety of tones.
*minor* downsides:
Getting used to the neck that gets wider towards the body (a learning curve, that's all).
Noisy/loose battery compartment and noisy jack (I will fix these)
The HUGE volume discrepancy between active and passive modes. Not sure what to do about that one.
But as I said, I mostly love this bass. I may save up my shekels and get a custom build at some point.

How old is your BB75? The newer Carvin preamps have a trim pot to adjust the volume between active and passive. I'm not sure when they started that (I think it was when they went to the preamp with sweepable mids), but my '06 Icon has it.

TNCreature, your bass does have a trim pot as Showdown suspected. It's a little slot head screw adjustment in the control cavity.
