"Official" Carvin Club

Hello to all,

Although I own a beautiful Carvin B4, I won't submite to that club because of the non support I've got from Carvin.

The wood work on my bass is great but the electronic realy has a problem.

It is supposed to have a 3 bands elec but in fact, from neck to bridge, the pots are bass, treb... and bass.

Yes I'm definitly sure that first and third control do the same thing.

Well after a few mail to Carvin and even some PMs to a Carvin rep on TB, everybody tells me it is not possible.

So I may just be crazy or def.

I've posted it before, but here is my Carvin B4. I've owned four different Carvins and even though this is the only one I kept (well one was stolen after a gig) I still dig their basses.

This one's Walnut with Sunsetburst edges, a rosewood fingerboard, tung-oiled Mahogany neck and the CT headstock.

Totally stock. No case but for $120.00 it's just fine with me.
I still never figured out why Carvin went with guitar pickups for their basses during this time. Thats why this bass stays in the closet next to my collection of Mosin Nagants.

Can one of you Carvinophiles inform me of the string spacing on the LB/XB76? I am reasonably certain that the BB76 is wider spacing (18 mm?) than either of those two. I am contemplating having the custom shop build me one of the above three but would like to confirm string spacing first.

FYI, there are very few Carvin bolt-on basses with the double humbuckers. Every time someone tries to order dual humbuckers in the B4 or B5, the Guitar Department has a conniption for some reason. So yours is pretty rare.

Guitards got M22 or M22SD and basses got M22B. (And there are people at Carvin who say the M22B was nearly the same, or the exact same depending on who you ask, as the M22SD.)
I'd say yours was made in 1986 because of those pickups. Does it also have a brass nut?
Carvin went to the H11B stacked humbucker and graphite nuts in 1987.
I can not say for a fact that it couldn't have been built in early '87 because I don't know exactly when they switched.
But the ones with the M22B p'ups were mostly made in '86. There were some in '85 too. The ones with the H11B are considered to be '87, though there were a very few made in early '88.

The BB75 is wider than the standard LB75, XB75, or I5. However the wider neck and string spacing is available on the LB75, XB75, and I5 as an option.

The LB76, XB76, BB76, and I6 all have the same string spacing.
I believe it's 17mm, same as the regular (narrow) 5-strings.
Although it could be the even narrower 16.5mm.
I've never measured one.
