There is a used LB75 for sale in my area and I'm wondering what to offer the guy. It is pretty much stock, except for a classic sunburst finish. Judging from the hardware and electronics, it is either a 1996 or 1997 model. Here is what he says about the bass...
"Flaws: one cosmetic scratch on the back from my belt buckle.Other than that it's been stored in a case so it looks new. Haven't picked it up in a while so the action will need a little tweaking as well as a tuneup."
He wants $600, but that bass didn't sell for more than $800 brand new. I haven't seen it in person yet, but from the pictures and the description, it does look like it will need at least a basic setup and cleaning job. Does anyone have input about what I should offer him? Thanks.

I agree that $600 is probably too much. You'll know more when you see it in person. When you make an offer, let the seller know any faults you see, and if you can find lower prices from ebay auctions for B5s to show, that can help in the negotiations. Good luck, I hope you're playing a B5 soon!

I'm still kicking myself for selling my old LB75A - I think I bought it in 1997 and it was one of the most beautiful basses I've ever played. In terms of construction, I would have put that bass up against anything on the market at the time. That was back when Carvin was still using Koa for the neck and body laminates. Does anyone know why Carvin stopped using Koa for the laminates for the Anniversary series?
Heres my B4. Just received it yesterday and I cannot believe how great it is. Light, balanced, comfy, well put together and it's sounds amazing. Paid about as much as you would for the Geddy Lee I recently sold and this Carvin is waaaaay better in many ways. We'll see what I think when the honeymoon is over.
I gotta try one. I play the LS1503 Carvin 3 way cab... and it is the best cab I have ever used. Seriously. I'm considering a fretless 6er in trade for my Skjold... we'll see how that goes! Carvin makes some top notch stuff!

I have an AC40...englemann spruce top, matching 2x2 headstock...it's a 1997...I bought it new...I LOVE it!

From what I can dig up, it's 11/16" or about 17.5 mm. The wider asymmetrical neck has .75" spacing, which is 19mm. Hope that helps.

It is my main bass. I have other, more expensive brands, but this is the one I take to the gig. I read an interview a long time ago and the bassist remarked that he had plenty of "luxury" basses, but the one he used the most was his "taxicab." It is the one he makes money with, as opposed to the others. The Carvin is my taxicab.
I didn't realize that there were so many left-handed Carvin pickers on this board.

Hi guys - Hey do any of you also own an Ibanez SR4 bass that can compare the slim/narrow/thin SR4 necks to Carvin (4 string) necks? I ask because I've always been interested in a Carvin bass providing it has an almost identical (in dimensions) neck to the Ibanez SR4 necks/spacing. The SR4 neck is only 1 7/16" wide with a 7/8" thickness at the nut, and 19mm spacing at bridge. Thanks
