I've never thought a second about returning one of his basses because they are that good. He does offer a customer pays return shipping if it doesn't like it for some reason. Tell him Shane Campbell recommended his basses and he will make you a better deal if you do reach out.
This beauty will be in my possession today. Turned out great I think.

So, had a great conversation with Devon last night. Shipping to Canada is not an issue so this definately an option for me. Very interested in planning out the pick ups and pre amp. Those big blades are catching my ear. I like my Jazz Sadowsky but it can get thin sounding at times. Looking for some recommendations to consider.

Here's a couple of Devon's which I got courtesy of Shane. They both have Honeybadgers. Thin sounding doesn't enter into the lexicon:
I’ve had Bart’s, Honey Badgers, the Big Blademan Man’s, and Nordsttand DC’s in my Devons and my favorite by far have been the Nordstrand DC’s with his coil tapping and Gain controls he now uses for each pickup. He does the individual gain controls for each pickup to allow the user to match the output switching from series to parallel. You don’t get a noticeable spike in volume when going into series mode. Genius offering IMO. The DC’s in his basses are the best sounding pickup I’ve ever played and tone is fat, clear and punchy. Cuts like butter through the mix and each note has a heft to it that just sounds buttery smooth.
I miss both those basses but that top one is one of the best 2 basses I’ve ever played. That’s what you call instant regret lol.
I’ve always been in the camp that 35 inch scales are a must have for a perfect B string but after receiving my first two 34 inch scale Devons I’m blown away. Both have the best B string I’ve played and are simply perfection. The man just takes every step of the build and perfects it. The new smaller body and rear jack makes it so nice and thought out.
I love the J-Blades and Power Blades. Both of my Devons have them. My next one will be the Big Blademan and the Power Blade setup
I just bought one of Devon's NAMM demos, which I should have next week. Having never owned a 5-string (apart from a Dingwall I had for a short time), a 35" scale, or a bass with so many controls, I'm a little tentative. But judging by the comments in this thread, it is sure to be exemplary!

I spoke to a few that played that bass and they said it was one of the most impressive basses they've ever played. I actually sent the money for that bass a few weeks ago and wound up changing and sending a little more to get a different one. You will love that bass.
I've got this beauty heading my way this week. It's a rare Lacewood Afzelia wood top loaded with wood covered Nordstrand Big RIgs and 3 band Nordie preamp with Coil Taps, Vintage tone control, and Black with Gold Hardware.
I played it at Devon's open house and it is amazing. I am not a 5 string player but it sounded so good. I own the 4 string brother of your bass. Congrats your in for a treat.
Best sounding bass tone and rig I’ve ever owned. My newest Devon gen5 Cocobolo. Genzler 350 stack and Radial Firefly for a TUbe DI to the house. Please disregard the church power amps on the floor. We are I. The process of remodeling and adding 150-200 seats and bigger stage area.

Definately looking at ordering a Gen5 4 stringer. I have a colour and thoughts around the pick up and pre amp combo. Would have loved to take advantage of the sale but need to sell off a few things first.
Just pulled the trigger on this beast. I have been eyeballing it for awhile now and had to do it today. This will be my 2nd Devon. I can't wait to be playing this man.
