Latest effect winning a place on my small board: new DOD Boneshaker, just bought for $49 direct from Harmon. Using the middle frequency to take out some upper mids was key, my own scoop with very minimal distortion, adding lows just perfect on fretless, ssbs Mini into it is a good synth fuzz. The lows on this thing are massive.

Love mine! I use them for my guitar boards, but got some sweet and gnarly bass dirt from it too. Just had to lower the presence.
Mind sharing your settings? I feel like I'm always struggling with this pedal. I love it, but can't quite get "the tone" from it.

sure. Top row Distortion is at 9 o'clock Depth is full left, aka counter clockwise (which would seem to be the least, but actually it's the most low end allowed into the circuit) level at 10:30 to get near unity. Bottom row, Low: level (the outer dial) at 3 pm (lots), freq (the inner dial) 10:30, Mids: Level at 8:30 am (le scoop) Freq 4 pm (so a scoop high in the mid freq) High: level 2 pm Freq 1:30.
I've been trying different amounts of High, but the low and mid are set for now at the volume I'm using. I could see backing off the Low level and with a very loud amp, or letting more high mids in for cutting through a very loud band, plus I'm not using any tone shaping preamps these days, no VT no RustyBox, nothin. My basses are either active or high output passive, too much line level for some fuzzes. I was concerned at first that I was driving too much distortion until I found le scoop. It's a nice organic overdrive now. Boneshaker then into a TC Hypergravity Rudy Szaro "Heaven & Hell" toneprint, compressor 40% mix of fairly heavy compression.
I haven’t got a chance to try it yet. Bought it from local musicians website (muusikoiden.net) with 40 €. I have a hunch that fx56-b is somewhat similar to HM-2. Am I right?
You are absolutely correct. I have an HM-2 and FX56B and they sound almost identical. If I had to distinguish, I’d say the HM-2 is slightly bassier, and the FX86B is slightly grindier in the treble content. But I’m really splitting hairs. Doubt they would be distinguishable in a mix. Also, this is all on guitar, as I don’t typically use that much distortion on bass.
Dang! So close to scoring Milk Box #4, but it was already gone! Only $20 on GC used. Too good to pass up, if only it still existed.

Any word on the FX91 Bass Overdrive? It appears to be an FX50 (aka DOD 250 with a tone knob) but with a blend. Seems decent from what little info I can find. Worth it to snatch up?
Anybody know where to find the tiny power jack nut for older FX series pedals? Or what size they are? Might get one for a good deal, but it’s missing the nut and can’t use the power supply easily. Guy says he looked for an hour at the store and couldn’t find one.
This is indirect help but I had a problem with the jack on my fx62 and another tb’er suggested getting the 9v snap adapter from voodoo labs and running it off my power supply.
The battery door has probably fallen off your pedal anyways.
I have the battery snaps, but the battery door is still there! Thought about the battery snap, but I have the extra adapter as is.
Another question - anybody have a Carcosa that is really noisy? Mine just starting making a bunch of hiss (much more than standard gain hiss). If I unhook it, or double check the connections, it often goes away and becomes silent again. But when I turn off the rig again, the hiss is back. Confusingly, if I disconnect the Gunslinger next to it from the power supply (1Spot) the hiss instantly goes away and stays away. I’m going to clean the inputs and outputs of each pedal, but don’t know if that will help.
EDIT - I hooked it up to a separate power supply, and the hiss is gone. I reconnected it to the 1Spot and the hiss is gone for now again. I have yet to clean the inputs/outputs.

Fuzzes don't like to share power with digital devices on a daisy-chain. If you use a battery or isolate the unit to its own PSU and the noise goes away (as you have already done) then you know its a sharing issue.
Nothing digital in the chain! Just the Carcosa, Gunslinger, and BiFET Boost (newest version).
I finally figured it out - bad power supply. I had just been using my buddy’s 1Spot, which apparently has problems (or is at the last very picky). I plugged the Carcosa into another rig (with digital pedals) and it was perfectly quiet again. So I then unhooked the actual power supply and attached a different one. Everything works perfectly. So, something is up with my buddy’s 1Spot. No big deal here, as I was planning on getting my own 1Spot for this board anyway.
Ah right, this is a different issue. The 1-Spot is a digital switching power supply, these types of PSU's are notorious for not working well with low mA pedals like fuzzes - This also includes our own PS0913BDC-01 so people don't think I'm talking smack. Try to find a linear PSU, they are much quieter with fuzzes.
Thanks! When I tried the Carcosa on a different board (also using a 1Spot) it was plenty quiet, so I think I’ll stick with those. Not that I don’t appreciate the info, but this is supposed to be a “small” board, so I’m trying to keep it simple. I’ll remember his in the future, though!
I'd taken a look inside a 1-Spot earlier today (a Visual Sound model however, not the newer Truetone branded one), and I couldn't see any digital components on the board, seemed to be transformer and MOSFET based from the looks of it.
You may find that the mains wiring in your house might be the problem, or that another power supply in the same circuit your PSU is plugged into could be the issue.
