Well guys, after a short absence, I am back in the game!

I'll be EXTREMELY interested to hear about your take on Bongo 5 HH vs SH5 HH
I have BOTH a Sterling 4 & Bongo 5 & couldn't choose 1 over the other, just different.

I imagine it will be the same case here. I had to sell the Bongo I had at the time. I was looking for another but then I found a Ray I wanted. I'll get another Bongo.
Yeah I have that sometimes....Where a bass I normally love just sounds off? maybe my ear is off or better yet my brain?hahaha!!
Then weeks could go by and I grab that bass out of the bunch and love it all over again.
So true. I have sold basses because of this and really regretted it.
The Bongo is ALWAYS awesome... just happens today wasn't one of them but I almost never play punk with a pick or actually Blues using the Bongo

Sometimes you just have to back up and set everything flat and start again. What amp/cab were you using?
If you want the case, then the shipping is expensive b/c of the size. If you can do without the case, then you have the seller take off the neck and wrap everything in bubble wrap and put it in a smaller box. I did this for a buyer and IIRC the shipping was less than $100. The buyer would have to deal with customs and duties if they apply in their country.

While snappin pics of the 30th, I grabbed some of the Reflex I had gotten a few months ago. Just have had no time to take pics of these. This is my first Reflex and I have to say these things are truly ALL THAT!!
Very light...Small body...amazing rosewood color and grain fretboard...Satin smooth neck...and the electronic package will blow you out the door if desired. Or on Passive will give a great old school tone as well.

Mrfstop - you have two amazing basses right there - congrats. I am lovin my reflex 5 HH.
Question - Do you find the stingray preamp to have more bite than the reflex? I have owned both (sold the ray a few years back) but am jonesin for a ray again.

Well, I took possession of my first ever Stingray 5 HH today.
I've only got to play it through my practice amp at low volumes but so far I seem to favor the bridge pickup the best. When I had my Bongo 5 HH I preferred the pickups blended or the front pickup. Guess there's just something magical about that funky pickup near the bridge on a SR.
It's kind of wierd to have a tung oil neck again. I'm used to satin or gloss finished necks. The bass feels solid. Nice weight to it. Neck width and thickness is perfect. The bass is VERY resonant. The notes just seem to ring out. Much more than the neck thru Spector I sold to get back in good graces with EBMM.
It's got D'Addarios on it (NASTY!) so strings have been ordered for it and a full set up is in order. I'm curious to what settings you guys utilize with this bass?
Here are some typical and terrible bedroom shots to prove ownership.
How do I find out what year it was made and what pickups are in it? I have the serial number on hand.

Not really...The Reflex is an 18V pre amp....The ray 9v....
So if anything the pre amp in the Reflex and Bongo tend to puch a bit more than my Rays do.
I find the S pups to be a bit more "thin" sounding , rather than the H pups for sure....
I hear ya...I think once ya play a Ray...ya always will need at least one Ray in the house...hahah
