I played a Stingray 5 Classic today. That was a dumb idea, now I want one. I may try to sell/trade my beloved SR4 to fund it, as I play 5ers almost exclusively.

The one I played was white & maple. It was also scratch & dent...so it was $1599. There was a good ding right through the paint, but I could deal with it.

Tell the shop that you could get a used minty one here for considerably less....

It's Guitar Center. They don't go for that anymore.

I actually went there to pick up a RAT II, and noticed they had a Black Russian Big Muff which I have been looking for. They claimed it was from the 70's and wanted $100. I told them it was from the 90's and they denied it...then asked what I would pay and basically laughed at me. They said they now have a policy that used prices can't be changed for 90 days...because they have the lowest price. :rollno:

Yea GC are near impossible to deal with.
The claim they tag things with the GLP....guaranteed lowest prices...
I say BS to that!
I have found things MUCH less at a mom n pop music store about 5 miles down the road....

I know I have seen beautiful mint and new new gear here for great prices...also over on the EBMM forum too.

This guy was purchased from guitar center last week. It wasn't the least expensive guitar i have ever purchased, but i did get several hundred dollars off of their GLP. I don't often shop at Guitar Center, but i do own a couple of GC Exclusive color Music Man Basses. And the way they took care of me when i bought this Big AL will make me shop there again.

My other Guitar Center Exclusives.. The Black Magic, I bought new and did not pay anywhere near their GLP

The Copperhead Bronze was used and an amazing deal.. the seller had no idea what she had.

And while I'm on a roll.. why not a picture of my Trans White 1990 Stingray. I have been told this is the maybe the first one they ever made, and possibly 1 of less than 10 ever made.
Guitar center has nothing to do with this one.

the strings have been properly fit into their bridge saddles since this picture was taken.

Also.. the Bass Pictured in Mr.FStops Signature used to be mine.. I loved that color, but could never get friendly with the Modern Stingray Necks, They are great, but the Sterling, Slo Special, Big Al neck is perfect for me. I'm glad my old Seqouia Gold has a happy forever home, and MrFStop, if you ever decide to move her on.. Please offer her to me first. I miss her sometimes.

Do I have a number in this club? I think i meet the qualifications...

the EBMM site doesnt show the classics available in the baby blue, pink, vintage white or green... they discontinue those colors?

Powder Blue, Vintage White, and Mint/Surf Green have been discontinued, They never officially made a Shell Pink one, though one or two do exist made for guitar shows, or cancer benefits. You should be able to find A Powder Blue, Vintage White, or Mint Green one around though.. they are definitely in inventory and show up used fairly often.

Question for the club. For those that know me I have a Big Al SSS that I just looooooove! I've had Rays but never a Sterling. To test the Sterling waters cheaply I just bought a SB14 on here (thanks Denny).

I really dig my BA in series mode. Will the Sterling in series sound somewhat similar ya reckon'? More punch, less punch? Thanks fellas.

The sterling is a no holds barred dog fight waiting to explode. You can tone it down, but every note will pound you in the chest and let you know your hearts still pumping. The Big Al SSS will do the Sterling thing, its not quite as aggressive, but can be fine tuned for very similar tone. In Passive its a whole other animal. The Big Al H has the Sterling Pickup, with a Bongo Preamp and gives you much more control. if you can handle it. All of thet said. I prefer the Big Al in Passive mode tone rolled off about 30% volume rolled off about 30% Passive input on my amp, and preamp gain for a little drive. I find i can use the volume on the guitar like a lead guitar player does, to pull al title fuzz out when i need to step out. My Bass of choice is the Big Al SSS, or H. THey both sound like me.

I have a Sterling HH & a Bongo HHp 5... the next bass would be a Big Al H or SSS, one that works this time preferably :)
I'm wondering which of them would be the furthest tone wise from what I have... the Big Al H or SSS?

Nice new find! Beautiful Big Al added to the collection!
I really like the copperhead bronze and trans white Stingrays!!!
If you even let go of either of those two, drop me a message!

The 2008 LE Sequia did for SURE find a good home...
It quickly became my favorite Ray out of the bunch.
Will of course give ya first dibs if I ever let her go.
However might not be till I am 6 feet under :D
