Here is a sorry tale......

Its a 1991 EBMM SR5. I bought it a few yrs ago. The previous owner had ripped out oem elecs and pups and put some disgusting humbuckers in there, routing out the body to do so :crying: Prolly threw oems in the bin too :hmm: All i could afford at the time was cheapo Bass Lines replacements and a homemade scratch plate.
Is there a good aftermarket package to bring this baby back to somewhere near decent sounding??

Cheers,
Mark.

go to your local music store and tell them what you need I.E. a 5 string pickguard, MM Pickups. and they will be able to order them for you! A pickup that i have heard is great in stingrays are bartolini's stingray pick-up, i think there is one on ebay that will make it sound very nice im sure.

The pickguard actaully doesnt look bad but you can order one anyways they run you about 35 to 50 dollars depends on ply/colour.

MM wont sell pups and elecs unless you have genuine ones to send back to them. That was the word from EB. I can however buy a scratch plate.

Really is that what they said? wow they have got really anal about there products. Ok i reccomend you buy the bartolini! i have heard it is very close to the priginal sound. also look on ebay every day you will never know what you will find, i have found a lot of stuff that hass been very helful just wait it out and wait for the right deal for the right pickups etc.

Get a Nordstrand pickup, they sound like the real thing you can't go wrong with one.

count me in here, MM are the only basses i'll play right now. Right now I have a Sterling that I love, but i'll probably have to sell it soon because I'm taking my other MM to school and I can't afford to have to 2 and not play one. It might look black in the pic but it is actually a really dark blue:

My other is going to be a "Cutlass", the neck is almost done I can't wait. I say Cutlass because the graphite neck is not made by status, moses, or any big company but it is identical to the necks EB used on that particular model. i'll definitely post a pic when its all set up.
