thats a good thing bryan....it means you music is diverse and you have an appreciation for all kinds of music...you dont just have an ear for one genre.....i myself am mostly into jam bands...but that is a very diverse genre in itself....i play everything from electronica/jam fusion ....to the grateful dead....metal and punk dont really do it for me but other then that....bluegrass,rock jazz,funk....i love it all

I have a close friend who went to Musicians Institute in LA way back in the early 80's. He studied under some of the heavy hitters and is an unbelievable bass player who traveled all over back during the "Big Hair" days. He has played and owned just about everything. He has lost most of that big hair and grown a fat gut, but is still just as awesome on the bass. Well anyways, we talk almost everyday and he has been wanting to try my Elrick since before I ordered it. This past weekend I sent it to him to take out on a couple of gigs.....well.........he was absolutely blown away. He said it was the best playing bass he had ever laid his hands on. Go Rob Elrick! I think you will have another happy customer in the near future!

so i just left rudys music in new york after playing his evo 5 bolt on....what a nice bass....i honestly wasnt crazy about the strings though....i felt like they were a thincker gauge then what im used to(super slinkys) and found that although the bass was easy to play...my fingers had a hard time sliding up and down the strings....do they give you options for strings when ordering?

Not really- you get Elrick strings, which are pretty taut, with the bass- you may be able to choose between medium and medium-light gauge, but that'd be it. New strings are only about $30 though, and if you don't like the set it comes with, you can sell them as almost new for $10.

hey guys how are the necks on the elricks as far as width....im used to playing an ibanez SG and am trying to get an idea if the neck sizes are relatively similar....dont know if anyone can help me but any input on this would be appreciated

Standard specs for Elricks is 19mm at the bridge (wide) and a decent width at the nut. Ibanez Soundgears have very thin necks. But you are ordering a custom, so you can order the nut width to be whatever you want within reason. The six I just ordered has a slightly tighter spacing at the nut and the bridge than his standard size and a 34" scale (35" is his standard). That's the whole point of paying the extra to get a custom though- getting the specs you want.

bryan i can honestly say i did not know i can choose the neck thickness!!!!! i guess that means i can find a bass i feel comfortable on , get the specs on the neck, and order it that way? i have always felt more comfortable on a thin neck like ibanez or warwicks for some reason...im going to a 5 string so i know its going to be wider but i wanted it to be a relative difference to the 4 string that im playing now

No. Scale length is the length between the nut and the bridge saddle. As the saddle distance varies a bit, the most accurate way to figure out your scale length is to measure from your nut to the 12th fret and double that.

I've never asked if you can order the neck in different thicknesses (back to front), but you can choose the width (side to side) and string spacing.
