Elrick has different gauges as well as nickel and stainless strings.

I mentioned the different gauges (medium and medium/light)- I didn't mention the "big boy" as he's looking for something that's not "big boy"-ish :D I think he meant if you could chose to have EB Slinkys or DRs, etc., put on them.

i dont understand what you mean from the nut to the 12th fret? from the bridge you mean? or the actual end of the neck? by the pickups? not really sure what you mean....this is the first time ive ever had to spec out a bass sorry guys

Measure from the nut (the plastic thing at the top of your neck at the beginning of your headstock) to the 12th fret. If that distance is 17", then your bass is a 34" scale (17" doubled). If that distance is 17.5", then your bass is a 35" scale.

Don't take this the wrong way, but have you been playing bass for very long? A lot of the questions you've been asking make it sound like you are a new player.

roughly 3 years...no offense taken...im certaintyl no pro...im asking all these questions becuase im trying to make sure that i get EXACTLY what i want....some may be stupid but ive never had the pleasure of geting to build my own bass....thus im unfamiliar with scale lengths and other things....i only own one bass and and its the only ive been playing the past couple years....

and maybe this is another stupid question but are you sure about 19mm for the width? that doesnt sound right....im trying to figure out the width at nut and width at last fret...it sounds like you mean thinkness of the neck...i may be wrong though

19mm (3/4 inch) is the distance between the strings measured at the bridge from center (of 1 string) to center (of the adjacent string). This is pretty much the standard for a 4 string bass. Many 5ers have slightly narrower spacing, but many (Lakland, Elrick, Sadowsky among others) keep 19mm for the fiver as well.

Hey guys-

Just brought out my Elrick today after many months of not even touching it. I thought about selling it because I've become a total 4 string jazz bass guy...but my Elrick is too sweet to part with. It plays so great! I have always considered it to be a "modern" kind of vibe, but honnestly after playing only jazz basses for the past year...it feels so much closer to a jazz than even my F Bass.

Anyways, thinking about swapping out the pickups/preamp to get a different sound. I dig the old Barts...but they're a bit to compressed for my tastes now. Anyone using anything different in their Elrick? I'm thinking Nordstrand...but whats out there?

BTW...here is the bass!

You may have misread what I wrote- I said 19mm is the spacing at the bridge:

The string spacing (which is another term for the spacing at the bridge) and the width at the nut will automatically determine the width at the last fret, so you don't need to worry about the width at the last fret. Just know the string spacing you want (bridge) and the width at the nut you want.

TBer C5KO has experimented with adding Nordstrands into a couple of his Elricks- I'd shoot him an email about it.

sweet elrick!! i have aero's and a mike pope preamp in one of mine.
